Playing tight and waiting for big hands is the best strategy in these. If you double up early, it is usually correct to play even tighter for the rest of the SnG.

It is also important to always take notice of the other players' stacks. If you are a couple of places from the money, and there are a few shorter stacks around, it is probably correct to fold almost every hand.
