European gaming giant Bwin.Party has announced the launch of a new mobile poker application designed expressly for the Android operating system.
This new software package comes courtesy of the Ongame Network, a subsidiary of Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment. With the rising popularity of the Android Network in Europe, the partnership was something of an inevitability. Since their services are already available over iPhone, this was the next logical step for Bwin.
“Mobile is a no longer a ‘nice-to-have’ feature,” said Ongame Managing Director David Pittell. “It is what the digital consumer expects. Poker players are an ideal target audience for a mobile app as they are tech-savvy and keen to enjoy games using multiple platforms. The question now is not whether or not they own a smartphone. The question is whether they prefer iOS or Android. We are seeing a huge interest from all the major operators within our poker networks.”
Users with an existing Bwin account should visit www.bwin.com/androidpoker on their Android device in order to obtain the new software. It’s a truly impressive little package. According to a company press release, it possesses “all the benefits of the bwin Poker client such as hand evaluation and hand history are at hand!”
If recent history is any indication, players can expect a solid experience from this latest technological leap.

While America’s mobile gaming market is currently confined to the hotels of Las Vegas, the fact that such a technological marvel exists somewhere should give hope to the gaming populace. Once things clear up on the stateside front, such advances should be quick in coming.
