A poker player who does not tend to play many hands.
Tight players tend to fall into two subcategories-- tight-aggressives, who do not pay many hands but bet aggressively on the hands they play, and tight-passives (also known as "nits"), who do not play many hands and do not bet the hands they play aggressively.
Example: "Normally, I 3-bet on the button with pocket queens, but the original raiser was out of position and plays very tight, so I decided to just call."
