Winning a quarter of the pot. This term is often used in omaha hi lo when it is a common thing to have 2 players with an equal strength winning hand in one direction with a 3rd player having a winning hand in the other direction.
Quartering often happens on the low side of the pot when both players have the same low hand, and may also happen on the high hand, but it is rarer then the low hand
Example: I had the nut low but no high, and with a bet and a call in front on my I flat called, fearing I will be quartered
