Gap Concept

Gap Concept

A term coined by David Skalnsky in his book Theory of poker.
The Gap concept basically means that you need a better hand to call a raise than the hand you need to open raise with.
The difference between the hand range for raising and the hand range to call raises is the gap

Example: Is AJ in the CO a good hand ? It is a good hand to open raise with but a bad hand to call a raise with
