Calling down

Calling down

A strategic decision by a player to reach showdown and not fold. Generally adopted as a strategy when a player believes that the bettor is bluffing or is overbetting an inferior hand.

Example: "I was sick of his aggression, so I decided to call him down with middle pair. I was right-- he just had ace high."
