Backdoor

Backdoor

A backdoor drawing hand needs to catch both the turn and the river to complete its draw. It hurts when your opponent catches two running spades to catch his backdoor flush!

Example: If you have AsKs on a flop of 9s2d3h you have a backdoor flush draw needing the turn and river to come spade spade. You also have a backdoor straight draw, if the turn and river come 4 and 5, you now have a straight.
