Hand in discussion was 6max, raising A4s from MP with the poster in the CO and no reads on anyone left to act.

With no reads I feel A4 isn't horrible, but easily on the lose side, the response...
Quote:
Basically my range for the whole table would be the same as my button range normally, and my range from the CO/BTN would become huge. Theres value here just waiting for you to take it.

My UTG/MP range would be very close to normal, while my CO/BTN range would become huge.

Thoughts?

note: I'm on American sites, he's on some euro site, which creates somewhat of a gap

Most important factor is who is behind you and how much attention they're paying.

Quote was from me. Really, its tough to put it so exact since it depends a LOT on table dynamics, but as a general rule I'm looking for opportunities to take this free monies and I'm very flexible on my range when doing so.

Oh sorry I didn't see that bit. In that case I agree with your assessment.

I still think we leave value on the table if we dont open up our range in all positions.

The problem is that people who post OOP usually aren't very good. They also don't really like folding to a raise once they've already put 1.5bb in the pot. So if we open up our EP range we're often seeing the flop OOP with weak hand and against a player who doesn't like folding.

Combine that with the number of people behind who may be astute enough to RR us very light and it's just not a great spot.

i seriously open up my raise from all positions and don't get played back at much at all. I also add 1bb to my opening range.

if ppl on the table are clued up then ok maybe there is very little extra value to be gained but every time I play back at someone who I thought was abusing a poster I get owned by some ridic strong hand so I'm not sure you'd get played back at that much.

end nonsensical ramble.

A4s is easily strong enough to open in these situations. I open it sometimes from EP anyways. Worth opening your range from all positions, but its still relative.

I get a bit more aggy from all spots with a poster, it's normally free money. The poster will sometimes defend which just makes it better as they are often clueless and just end up donating a bit more...welcome to the table sir!

One point that was never mentioned is "what is your button range" I'm playing 36/30 or so, which seems awfully wide for playing OOP.

Axs, Kxs, any two broadways, any PPs, SCs 56+. Something like that. Again it varies a lot based on table dynamics.
