Couldn't post the detailed HH bc every hand but the last one was saved to my comp, but It was 90 mins into a small stakes MTT. The blinds were 100/200 and I was in the BB. The two relevant chip stacks were mine (5,600) and the button (12,000+). The std raise for the table had been 3xBB and it's folded to the button with who raises to 750, which was larger than usual obv. I thought he was stealing, and I had AQs, so I RR to 2,000. He called. I hadn't particularly noticed him being really loose or anything, and his flat call pflop made me think he had TT+ or AQ+, almost all of which I am behind. The flop comes 774 and I shove allin on the semibluff and he calls, showing TT, and I'm out.

In hindsight his play fit the descrip of TT or JJ perfectly, and I just didn't recognize it, right? JJ or TT seems to make perfect sense there, even pflop, bc most ppl reraise QQ+ there and they love to shove AK over. So this bluff was really terrible, right?

it's fine, one you re raise you have to go with it. Although if you really think his range is TT+, AQ+ you should of course give up. But I think it's much wider. There isn't any reason to think he'll bluff and you don't want to give a free card so you shove. Note that even here you get it in with 6 ours where as when you have a big pair and play it exactly the same he has 2.

Well - after you put in over 1/3 of your stack pre, you sorta have to follow through.

This was neither a bluff, nor idiotic.

You played the hand fine but the fact that you're focusing on this hand is a problem, it probably means you're missing tons of value.

I'm sure you're right. I certainly am missing a ton of value, I'm sure. I couldn't tell you where or why because frankly I'm new at this. I saw this hand in a totally different light at the time, with it having nothing to do with value and such, but I'm learning as best and as fast as I can. I posted the hand bc I thought I made a mistake on the flop. It turns out I didn't, for reasons I didn't even consider, and I'll try to implement the lessons learned into my game.
