Played 4 20$ SnGs today, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd and 5th. I'm not complaining, but I really wish I could manage to turn those 2nd places to 1st. The last time I had 11000 chips and he had 3000 and I still lost, was due to bad beat that he doubled up but still I think I can improve much in this area.
I didn't find much about heads up in the SnG guides, so would be great if someone who feel they are sucessfull in this setting could give some tips on how to play. I'm wondering about wich hands to raise and how much, wich to fold, wich to just call in connection with the level of blinds and our stack sizes. If there are already treads about it, I'd like to know where. Would be helpfull for both my SnG and MTT play. Thanks. |

| Hehe, yes I just noticed that tread too and been reading it. Had the message window open for a long time, so it seems it got posted while I was writing mine. If I'd seen it I wouldn't post this one of course:) Several good tips in that tread. |

| If the site you're on has them, try playing a few HU SNG's. I had a week a while ago that I devoted to nothing but $10 heads up matches, and it really helped my game. You have to know where the edges lie, and to constantly shift your game while paying attention to your foe's tendencies first and foremost. With experience you'll improve in this area, for SNG players it's crucial to have an edge when it gets down to heads-up so you can earn that extra 20% for the win to maximize profit. |

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd,4th and 6th in the 6 15+1$ turbos I played today. Seems I still have quite a bit to learn when it comes to heads up, that heads up I lost was 4 to 1 stack size in my favour at the start. Pretty happy with my ROI though.
I'm playing at PokerStars and it does have them, might try a few more of those, only played a few of them. The bad thing with those however, is that blinds start so low, even though stack sizes are smaller it's still very low, start at 10/20 I think. In a normal SnG heads up blinds are like 200/400 with antes or even higher in the turbos, while stacks are only 4-5 times as big. So this would make it quite a different situation in my opinion, however it's probably still good practice. |

Yeah, I thought about that too, but HU SNGs still provide practice at reading and responding and adjusting to another person's tendencies when there' s at least some breathing room, and a few big hands to play instead of luckboxing it out. It also teaches you the risks and rewards of our favorite swear word:

| Yeah, you're right, and HU is fun too after all. Today I was playing against a player who was not agressive at all, he was folding his small blind like half the time and folding to my 2.5BB raises quite often as well. I guess he got bad cards, my cards were ok and playing agressivly doing some of the stuff suggested in that other tread it was an easy win. It ended with him being put all in by calling the bigblind and loosing:) |
