Hmmm theres one thing that bothers me...
I haven't heard a single voice in this forum loosing on the long term!!!
EVERYONE is winning!!!
Isn't that impossible???
In poker, one mans win is someone elses defeat.
This means that even in this forum people must have negativ numbers on their account... Or am I wrong? 8-) |

there are 1000 registered members in these forums.
roughly 200 post actively
let's put in another 10,000 players for every other forum on the internet.
Party Poker at any given moment has 50,000 players.
that's still 39,000 clueless players. |

Is this a veiled request for people to post their fish lists?

You're Silly. He didn't mean personality wise, he meant playing poker.
There are players that are losers, usually they're the ones asking questions. Players that are losers that read this forum generally aren't losers for very long. They are also too afraid to post their troubles. |

Losers are out there. You've just got to find them.
And you shouldn't be having any trouble with that...

I consistently lose at poker. But I'll never admit it. |

| I'll admit it - to date I am a net loser online (but a net winner in a big way in live games). I'm close to even online, actually, but when I first started out I burned through several hundred dollars by making some bad calls and periodically going on tilt. Since my last buy-in I'm up about two hundred, putting me close to even overall just in online play. If you factor in my live play, I'm solidly in the black (we usually play tournaments and I've won three of our last six). |

I'm losing a bit in ring games (where I want to be playing) - keep getting in the black then losing a load to a river but more than making up for it in SNGs and MTTs.
I'm really trying to work on my game over the next few weeks, having purchased SSHE. |

When I first came to FTR I was losing...that is really the reason I was searching for some help. Spent about a month faithfully reading the forums before registering here and asked a few questions. In my first month as an active member I began winning....never looked back.
I imagine the story is similar for many people here, people who take the time to read, learn and refine thier game end up winning...most of the active members here are serious - or are becoming serious about poker. There are so many people that like poker or want to learn poker or simply want to see what the hubub is all about...and just give the online thing a whirl - those are the people that feed the rest of us. |

| Yep. I was at a net loss online and in live games when I registered here. I turned around my live play first, won a couple tournaments, and lately my online play has been improving dramatically as well. |

I started out down, and found this site, thinking I don't care about stinking groups of hands etc. It's all luck, so you might as well play hands, etc. Then I kept reading and all of the sudden I became this super tight passive player I didn't even recognize. And I wasn't losing my money all the time. Then before I knew it I had these groups of hands that I played. About the equivalent of down to group 4 hands. Then I got a book recommended here and read that ... a few times.
Now all of the sudden the starting hands I play have expanded as I am positioned closer to the button. It's not exactly the same as hand groups you see, I'm still tighter than that, but position means alot now. How many people are in the hand when I'm holding xx in late position etc. Next thing I know, is I'm not saving up to reload again down the road. Holy crap, my bankroll is actually growing, woohoo!!!!
It's weird how it happens, but I think it's just tons of experience where people get better and better. Someday I hope to improve more, and play at the next higher limit etc. When I first started playing online, we played at home alittle, with relatives around birthdays etc., and we'd just play anything. When we play now, and over the holidays, I'm thinking, gees, I'm not playing this crap hand, especially because my wife raised in early position, and she plays tighter than I do now. I'm gonna just sit back and try to figure out what pocket pair or whatever she's playing, and watch her slowplay her big pocket pair with that I don't know if I should call you look on her face, watching her reraise her brother on the turn just to piss him off when she had already flopped a set. Thanks for the Christmas present honey, you know I loved that one.
Anyway, there are a ton of the old me out there playing. But I have a secret place called FTR. I hope the fish never find my secret place. |

Started out w/ a $700 online Bankroll. Lost $400. Whored some bonuses and started winning consistently and have never depositied another dime in over a year. The B&M and home games are always good to me since the players are not so good. If you become a good NL online player you can crush live casino games in the $300 buy-in range.
Have not gone outside of relatively low limits online. $50-80MTT's, $30 -20 SNG's and NL ring games w/ 100 buy-in or less ie. blinds .50/1, 1/2 or .25/.50.
Do I win every day? Hell no! I have -$100 to 200 swings on a regular basis. If you are a decent player and stay within your limits it is not hard to stay an overall winner. You can lose your ass if you move up in limits with too little BR. |
