8mm is a good choice for any awful moive list - my first thought was Reindeer Games, I think that's what it was called, with Ben Affleck. Truly bad.

The English Patient. WTF is with people and this movie?!? This is worst piece of crap I've ever sat through. Hours of my life that I can never get back. Why does everybody think this movie is so fantastic??

Dare Devil was watchable as far as super hero movies go.

8mm I enjoyed but it's one of those films I wouldn't watch again.

Watership Down, the animated movie with the bunnies? Geez, if I knew crappy kids movies counted, I could list forever.

I watched "the" most under rated movie of all time on Eberts recommendation and found it ridiculiously bad.

Ultraman. It is a 60s Japanese movie that inspired a 70s american animated show and more. Horrible script, acting, everything.

But if you are listing of the worst movies. DOn't forget such classics as

Kazaam
The Associate
Juanna Mann
MonkeyBone
Theodore Rex
Bogus
Made in American
(Holy Crap I didn't realize how many Whoopi movies are awful)

2 worst movies of all-time, barr none: The Brady Bunch Movie & Little Shop Of Horrors.

Abysmal movies. Unwatchable. Only 2 movies I've ever walked out of at the movie theater.

The Last Action Hero, with Arnold, was pretty fricken bad. Walk out!
I say if you didn't walk out it wasnt that bad of a movie, at least you stayed to see if it would get better.

Only two I remember walking out of were the Batman movie several years ago that had Jim Carrey as The Riddler... and a movie a couple of years ago (I think called "Bandits") with Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton. Thought that was going to be awesome, but ended up being worse than the proverbial "watching paint dry".

Bandits wasn't to bad Smile I watched it on DVD one morning with a hangover . . . maybe the hangover improved the movie.

Talking of bandits "Time Bandits" is another little Jem Smile

Oh my God!! I thought I was the only one who ever saw Watership Down. What a stupid concept. If you are a kid and think a cartoon sucks, that's bad.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Ishtar yet.

Shocked No way! That was like the last good movie he ever did. And the Jamie Lee strip tease is to die for.

Speaking of stripping. Showgirls and Striptease were bombs too. Although Demi's tata's are nice.

Daredevil is a good choice for recent movies. I watched like 2 minutes of it, laughed at its retardedness, and quit watching thankfully. One of the few scenes I saw was a scene in some resteraunt where the main character meets some chick and they start fighting each other all of a sudden for absolutely no reason, all the while engaging in "witty" (read: retarded) banner. Bad concept, bad writing, bad acting, bad directing, bad choreography, etc. ... A scene can't get much worse.

Another recent one at about the same quality level is the Medallion. Jackie Chan's side kick in that movie may be the dumbest and worst character ever in a film.

Fear and loathing is a classic. It helps if you've read the book though.

As for worst movie's...

5. Lost in Translation
4. Waterworld (or most thing with Kevin Costner attached)
3. Gigli
2. Battlefield Earth
1. Super Mario Bro's (does anyone else remember this, because a lot of people repressed the memory)

I agree about all-things-Kevin-Costner being unwatchable. Sorry, that even includes Bull Durham. Between Kevin Costner, and Tim Robbins having the same windup and delivery as my little sister, I can't stand to sit through it for more than a few minutes.

hey, i really liked lost in translation. the worst movie i can think of at the moment would be teen wolf 2, and back to the future 2...i love back to the future 1, and 3, i love teen wolf (ok, i see the pattern too) but teen wolf 2 was just bad, and back to the future 2 was a terrible concept.

ok, yall may have never heard of it, but it was out in theatres for a little while. It's called the straight story, and an aunt of mine "recommended" it, and somehow got dragged into seeing it with my mom one day. The whole movie was him driving to his brothers house in a lawn mower, and the "climax" was when the brakes went out on a large hill. Moving stuff people, simply moving. Rolling Eyes Shocked

best in show wasnt horrible, waterworld, tin cup, and dances with wolves were all good movies. but lost in translation was horrible, what a borring pointless movie. batlefield earth was equally evil, but super mario bros was entertaining if you watched it when you were younger.

I'll admit that I liked "Dances with wolves."

And "Best in Show" was hilarious, but you have to like black comedies to find it funny, just the the one with Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon... uhh I think it was called "Election."

The worst movies for me.

Traffic
The Others
The Blair With Project

I liked 8mm. Maybe it was just because of the shock value but I never thought it was a bad movie.

I happened to rent the worst movie of all time this weekend!

It has Nichole Kidman in it and is called Dogville.

I have seen some bad movies in my time but this takes the cake, it is like they filmed a bad play.

I agree about Jeepers Creepers being one of the worst scary movies.

For the worst poker related movie, it is one called Shade ?

Yeah, I'm going to get the directors cut of Donnie Darko. I love that movie. The Straight Story is good, very well made. Rounders ... how can you be a poker player and not love Rounders? And I really want to see Lost in Translation, I've heard that's great.

Silly choices for worst movie of all time.

Some odd choices there, I've gotta say:

Watership Down - loved the book, loved the film. It's certainly not what I'd call a "kids" movie though, just cus it's got cute-looking talking rabbits, remember one of them gets garrotted by razor wire and starts hawking up blood and bile and thrashing around? WTF do you show your kids after THAT?!? "A Muppet Schindler's List"? "Barney" - the snuff version?

Lost in Translation - slow and meandering, but beautiful

Donnie Darko - superb, although I preferred Waking Life and Mulholland Drive if we're talking weird and impenatrable "fantasy with a twist" movies.

Best in Show - superb, but not as good as Spinal Tap

Straight Story - stunning, one of his best, mellowest film I ever saw.

As for the "worst", take your pick:

Battlefield Earth
Hawk the Slayer
Atomic Train
(Rob Lowe is a train accident investigating specialist, a runaway train is headed straight for Denver and it's loaded with nukes... it writes itself after that!)
Boxing Helena (oh wow! Then they woke up and it was all just a dream! What a BRILLIANT and INVENTIVE ending, I mean, it's not like every second-grader on the PLANET has written a story that ended that way cus they couldn't think of a better way to end it, is it?)
Anything with Vin Diesel or Jean-Claude Van-Damme.
The Great Escape - most overrated movie I ever saw.
Glitter

... oh God I could go on all day...

I love Mulholland Drive, but it seems kind of ironic to say this about another movie after recommending it:

I totally agree with this, the same with revenge of the nerds, totally pointless...

The most recent shark movie out in theatres HORRIBLE, talk about fucking low budget films that made it somehow to the theatre... It’s literally two people in the middle of the ocean THE WHOLE TIME... One fucking scene... I don't suggest this movie unless you want to waste your money or you'll get laid out of it!!!

I wondered if someone might pick up on that. Trust it to be Michael, you're on my case in the "Who's Hot" thread as well, did I p!ss you off in a former life or something? Wink (j/k)

[SPOILER ALERT (although how you could "spoil" something as insufferable as Boxing Helena is beyond me...)]

Right, here's the skinny - Boxing Helena was fraught with production problems, not least of all the lead role walking out (best thing she ever did IMHO, whatever the cost), was poorly written, terribly shot, no direction, lacklustre performances from a substandard cast. The story was NON-EXISTENT, but even then they were strapped for an ending and therefore tagged-on the "then I woke up and it was all a dream" afterthought.

[SPOILER ALERT]

Mulholland Drive was ALL ABOUT the "WTF?" factor, like every other film Lynch has made, you were supposed to be thrown by the surealness of it and try and figure out what was going on. The direction was, as always, impeccable, as was the cinematography. The cast were superb and did great justice to the script, and the story was as intricate as it was intelligent. To "spot" the twist (which actually came up WAY before the end of the movie, and was, in fact, the entire POINT of the movie!) required all your powers of perception, about 12 consecutive viewings, and, let's face it, a quick check on Google... Rolling Eyes

Here endeth the lesson. Glad you like MH though Michael, out of interest, have you ever seen Linklater's "Waking life"? Can thoroughly recommend it.

Haha, ironically we've already had a discussion about Mulholland Drive on this board in the Premium Members section a while ago. Humph said there was nothing to understand or something, and I went off on a big rant, and made him see the light. Also included in that was my ranting about how much I hate Forrest Gump, as referenced above. If you agree with that, back me up against FyrFytr. Smile

Anyway, I agree with everything you've said about Mulholland Drive, the twist is hardly all there is to the movie, its phenominally made. I loved the movie before I had any clue what the hell it meant. Its easily Lynch's best work in my opinion, and I think Twin Peaks is the best TV show ever made (although Mulholland Drive got me to watch Twin Peaks to see more of Lynch's work). It was more just the wording you used to critisize Boxing Helena that was ironic.

I haven't seen Waking Life yet, but I want to.

best in show wasnt horrible, waterworld, tin cup, and dances with wolves were all good movies. but lost in translation was horrible, what a borring pointless movie. batlefield earth was equally evil, but super mario bros was entertaining if you watched it when you were younger.

OH! OH! Waterworld! How the hell could I forget that piece of shit!?

Ok, my 3 alltime worst (the first 2 I mentioned earlier):

1) Little Shop Of Horrors (Hands down, the worst movie I've ever seen)
2) Waterworld (God-awful)
3) The Brady Bunch Movie (Bad as a TV show, worse as a movie)

1) & 3) I saw at the theater and walked out of. 2) I saw at the theater and wanted to walk out of but the girlfriend at the time thought it was good. Evil or Very Mad
