What do you play? Nl full ring single table
At what stakes do you play? 20nl
How long have you been playing? about 3 years
Where do you mostly play? I've moved sites over the years. At the moment i'm camped at Titan
Why did you come to FTR? I badly, badly need to inprove my game and having lurked here for a while I thought I'd bite the bullet and get into a position to get ripped to pieces (which I need). I'm a member over at another well known forum but this place seems to havbe more posts that IO can apply to my own game.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help) I want to get better at this game. Money is nice but really it's just a way to keep score at the level I'm playing, not an income or anything life impacting. I'm rolled nicely but I know that overall i've been more lucky than good. I'm here to learn, improve and learn some more. |

Why did you come to FTR? OK .... First time I came here 2 years ago I only wanted to know what the hell "SLANSKY"S GROUPS" were and how to play them. That is when I was playing on UB and was loosing my shirt. So I started to read alot of articles here and moved my game from UB to various other sites and have been getting better (slowly) thanks to alot of articles here (3bets ectetc)
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?
My goal is to better myself everyday and thanks to this site it has been happening. I took 2nd in yesterdays FTR200 on PokerStars. I have won a spot to play on TV on another site (I PLAYED HORRIBLE) ... hate even mentioning it but it was a great learning experience trying to play poker with 6 camara's in yer face

What do you play? Mostly NL Holdem, but starting to understand and like Omaha.
At what stakes do you play? Have been playing 25 cent tourneys, but planning to move up to $1.00 tourneys, also playing 2 cent, 4 cent sit and gos.
How long have you been playing? 8 or 9 years now.
Where do you mostly play? I started playing about 9 years ago with 10 other guys after bowling on Fridays. Then started playing some live local events around here and have been playing online for about 3 months now.
Why did you come to FTR? To try to improve my play so that I can do better in my play than I have been. I've been doing well but I know I can improve every aspect of my game.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? To learn how to deal with the ALL IN buttheads that are out there. I want to improve how I am doing in tourneys. I have been doing quite well, but at times I make the bad call and lose. I want to improve on that, so that I can do better than I have been. How can you help, well, help me to figure out the best way to play my most hated hand, a pair of Jacks!! Other than that just a little guidance on finding my way around the site and I am looking forward to talking with others to find out how they deal with the situations that frustrate people at the tables. |

Name: Sup fellaz and ladies my name is Mike and I grew up in the great outdoors =D Great ol Alaska...no place better on earth. However, im bloddy out of place in Texas. I came here when I graduated H/S to play College football...well my mom was in a horrible accident and long story short I had to put my football career on hold to take care of her for 2 years. SO...here we are 2 years later after winning my first time in a casino...$1/$2 no limit I bought in for $50 and left with 500 at choctaw casino....SO....like every other 19 year old out there I thought I was HOT SHIT...well I spent the $500 and decide dto deposit $50 on PokerStars. Ya...I know. So 2 weeks go by and im sitting on my computer at 8pm bored and I open PokerStars to see if a freeroll is going...well I see that I have .25 in my account LOL. So I see that there is a .25 tourney starting in 5 min...fate huh? Well I thought so to until I got AQ first hand and bet 4x bb got reraised and of course being the idiot I was I went all in...he called...leaving me 250 chips....So ya I TILTED and got so pissed off I made a stupid mistake that I KNEW i should not have made. So I looked at the short ask dot com mtt guide that was less then 1 page long and told my self I am going to stick to this guide....well I did...and I won....immagine that the ONLY tourney I won I stuck the generic guide to the tee. Which was basicly only play monsters till bubble...well I did and I got a streak of cards and voila I wont 1st place and a woaping 147$. That was a lil over a year ago. Since then I have had a CRAZY year and here we are.
Age: I am 21 years old
What do you play?
NLHE. Dont like any other game and have not tried pot or limit holdem.
At what stakes do you play?
I have played micro stakes until 5 days ago in which I started playing low $5 sitngos and MTT $5 and under.
How long have you been playing?
2 years
Where do you mostly play? Online I love live but casinos are way far from me and I dont have the money to play live.
Why did you come to FTR? Because I am ready to play holdem for real. As I stated earlier I had to take care of my mom the past 2 years and my scholarship for football is expired...to play I gotta buy in for the first semester or two to earn a scholarship...I know if I walk on ill make team but I gotta make atleast 6 grand to even think about having enough for 1 semester...and thats including playing poker a few hours/day to make money. So why am I here you ask? Well thats simple. I want to go from a $50 bankroll to 10 grand pocket money as soon as possible. Id prefer it within 3-6 months...Now weither or not I can do this or its possible I dont know...one of the reasons im here...however if it CAN be done by a novice that LEARNS VERY FAST and if I know something CAN be done then I WILL do it...thats just me. Ive always been the one to do the impossible....So my question to yall and why I am here is what is the fastest way to do this? I am definitly a tourney player...I have lost my ass everytime I have tried cash games...except that first one of course lol. So I think sitngos and MTT would be the best option for me. I definitly dont think I need to be playing more then 1 table atm. I have a thing ive been doing these past 5 days( O btw I deposited $50 5 days ago and have not lost any...I got it up to $150 yesterday but its down to $90 now. I have been doing real well in $5 sitngos...but then again its not hard....I just play super tight aggressive until 5 people then I just turn the heat up and play what I call Loose-Tight-Agressive. I play loose when IM betting/raising but will not call unless I have the goods. I lost $50 mainly cuz ive been playing MTT all day today just messing around with em. And I definitly love em. I have not been "trying" to win win win these past 5 days...more rather my main goal was to not play scared. I believe this was my biggest problem these past 2 years....I ALWAYS played scared...even when I was playing the $1.20 signgos...I was AFRAID to lose that damn dollar...And wow just playing SUPER TIGHT until 5-4 players in sitngos and ive yet to have success cashing in MTT except the first couple levels. SO...basicly I have read ALOT of books....read alot of articles....and there all great...but they pertain to either live real MTT, high to very high stakes. None of its geared to low stakes really....or does it? and im just over thinking it? Should I just keep doing what im doing? So basicly Id say im in the money ATLEAST 50% of the time...I know im going to start keeping records...remember these past 5 days have been an experiment to see if I would enjoy playing holdem for real and making money. The answer is YES I love it. It's also perfect for college job to take the ladiez out after a long week of classes eh? Aight, so I know this has been a LONG post...but I wanted yall to know I have looked around...studed...practiced...failed...and finally seem to be succeeding SOMEWHAT....but I want to REALLY TURN IT UP. And that im not just trying to be spoon fed information. Also i tried watching taht movie in beginers circle but it wouldnt work...so if I violated something...sry.
So I got a few questions for yall
1. are $10,$16,$25 ext...sitngos pretty much the same as in how people play? Cuz so far what ive seen in $5.50 sitngos on PokerStars...(Btw thats the only site I play on) ARE ROCKS...I can get down to 5 people 80%+ time. But man are these guys rocks....I
loosen up ALOT when I get down to 5 people and pretty much play any decent hand. But only raise or fold...
2. What is a good % to be in the money for sitngos? 50,60,75%? Im not good at playing more then 1 table...unless its a MTT and a sitngo at same time...which I actually like to do..cuz I can focus on sitngo and play my game and on MTT im just folding unless I have monsters or pp which I get in as cheap as possible and play for a set and thats it unless board is all unders.
3. Can you make decent money playing 1 sitngo at a time? low stakes or does it need to be higher to play 1 sitngo at a time and make good money? ARe the odds against 1 at a time? Is a sitngo and MTT going at all times good stratagy? Can I make the money I want to? (of course Ill have to move up in lmits)
4. Should I play $5 till I get $100 BR then play $10 till $200 then move to $15 till 500 then play $25? ext...ext...???
5. And last but not least...is there a low stakes MTT guide Specificaly for this?
6. Are there any links on this site that you think I should read? I know all the basics (er I think I do)
7. Any advice? Im very open to suggestion. I want to learn so please, if you feel theres something I should know or you think I could benifit from plz say so. I love knowledge.
I know it may seem like im overestimating my self...and hell..its possible I am...however I severely doubt it. If it can be done I can do it...theres no doubt in my mind. I know this has been A LONG post...and I appreciate those of you who have stuck by and read it and thanks to all of you who offer me some of your knowledge.
So please, help me. How do I accomplish this mission of turning $50 into $5,000+ as fast as possible. What is the fastest plan of action.
Thank you all and im very excited to get this ball going.
P.S. 4 hours after originally writing this I came across a post in the sitngo section and it said Harringtongs books #1 and #2 were the perfect guide for nl tourney holdem. So I checked em out online and I am going to the bookstore tomorow to get em. They are great looking books and ARE exactly what I was looking for. I think it will answer alot of my questions.

So anyways now I work a full time job and dont get to play as much as I would like. I want to get better and I hope that by participating in forums and reading books I might win a dollar instaed of losing 2. I play anything from 6 dollar to 50 dollar tables sit n go's that is. Its all a matter of time |

What do you play? Well.. i guess you would say that i play prety much anything! from NL to 2-7 Lowball, not meaning i am good at all them of course, cause i am not.. but i beleive its important to be versatile as a poker player..then be only one dimensional. With this said.. i do have preferences of course in my games of choice.
NL Holdem Holdem is the game that i do play most, but not a huge fan of Limit Holdem. Still something i need to play more to be better like any other game. Razz is totaly an awseome game to me and for me its what takes lots of time & devotion to play well.
I find that HORSE is great to help me or anyone be good at Multiple different types of games cause HORSE is a mix of games put together! Its quite something to play in my mind especialy to improve my weakness`s in games.
2-7 Lowball ( Limit or Not ) is one of my favorites. Its to bad there is just not much of it around at all cause its a great game and unfortunate it as not more exposure! Just like you will not find 2-7 Lowball on FT , but only on Poker Stars! buuuu!
Omaha I enjoy.. but only HL! - not a huge fan of the staright foward one. Stud either no matter if its High or Low.. its still my worst game to date!
At what stakes do you play?
I enjoy playing cash tables for $0.25/$0.50
HU anything under $50 , more or less.
SnG & MTT prety much the same.
How long have you been playing?
Well... its basicaly my first full year of Poker were i can actualy put time on my game and play regulary due to a work accident i had back in 2008. Thefore i have the whole year of 2009 off and can dedicated it to Poker!! Weeee. Last year and a half, i started playing but did not have much time cause of my work and was definetly not on a regular basis.
Where do you mostly play?
I Play mostly & always on Full Tilt & Poker Stars.
Why did you come to FTR?
Well... I like to take advantage of everything thats outhere. Always looking to meet new People.. have different view of things..and share and gain some Skills or Knowledge from a different comunity and people. Its never to much in my frame of mind and also know some People here I beleive as well. I certainly plan to be part of the Group here & Comunity as it seems to be a wonderful place to be indeed with good people from what i see.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?
My Goal Obviously is to be a better and good poker Player! & ..someday perhaps.. I would like to hopefully profit from my game & play. Who knows were this might take me.. but i have a whole year to see were this might lead me in my Quest with the opportunity that presents myself to me right now.
How can you Help you ask ..
You are already helping as letting me part of the Comunity & Group here and hopefully exchange thoughts of play & Guidance both ways towards being a better player in certain situations and in general.
Hope to see you all on the Felts soon.
Inc.

What do you play? NLHE, all types: FR, 6m, SNGs, MTTs.
At what stakes do you play? 5NL-10NL
How long have you been playing? 2 years. Never continuously, been on and off.
Where do you mostly play? Full Tilt currently. I'm planning to play somewhere else this summer because the rake for micro stakes is too high at FT.
Why did you come to FTR? Because it is +EV.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? Short term goals include moving to a new site this summer, clearing the Bonus and building my roll for 25NL.
Long term goals include plugging leaks, learning from better players and improving my game in general. Hopefully I will be able to return the favour in the future. |

What do you play? Low stakes MTTs, MTSNGs, FRNL
At what stakes do you play? MTTs/MTSNGs < $10, Currently at $10NL
How long have you been playing? Off and on for about 4 years
Where do you mostly play? Almost exclusively at PokerStars, although I have some $ on Full Tilt
Why did you come to FTR? To learn how to play cash games
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? I want to be beating $25NL for 10-15 PTBB/100
Basically, I've done alright playing tournaments for fun, but when I go to Vegas with friends, I always lost a few buy-ins playing 200NL. I knew there was something wrong, as I know what I'm doing playing poker, I just couldn't make the switch from tournament mentality to cash mentality. I made a failed attempt to switch to cash games last summer, as I was too emotionally immature to handle the swings. Now I feel ready to make the commitment to learning this summer, and we'll see whether anything materializes as another option (rather than being an accountant who is bored out of his mind all day) |

Hi guys, I am new to the forums. I have been reading for a while and decided to join up. My game of choice is NLHE Small to Mid stakes. I also enjoy playing PLO8, Seven H/L, and sometimes Razz. I have been playing online & live now for just over 7 years, I have learned a lot during that time. So with that being said I hope to bring some good information to the forums.
I play mostly on PokerStars, even though I have played on most online rooms out there. I just feel that stars does everything right, and I feel real comfortable with my money on that site. I have not played many games on Stars aside from just messing around, but I will make them my new home.
I decided to join FTR after looking & reading many other forums online. FTR just seems to be well moderated as well as most members in the community seem to be series about working on there games. So FTR did stand out the most when I decided to join a forum.
Some of my goals: Well the good news is I am getting back into playing poker after about a year layoff due to some family issues. The bad news is I will be on a complete re-building stage. I guess I really can not look at that as a bad thing. Its fun setting a quest for yourself and fighting to get to your goal.
So I guess my goal at this time would be going from the micro stakes all the way back up to the mid stakes. This is going to take some time and effort just for the fact that I do not want to jump stakes to fast, maybe in the micros I will. But I will for sure slow down at 1/2 NL.
So the big goal will be me playing at 5/10 NL. |

What do you play? NLHE, Mostly MTT's, but trying to get into ring games more.
At what stakes do you play? Micro, $5 and less buy in tournaments, $0.10/$0.25 ring games.
How long have you been playing? 2 Months.
Where do you mostly play? PokerStars
Why did you come to FTR? Somehow came about a series of articles about MTT Tournaments. Some excellent advice that has helped me a lot (soupie's how to win at MTT poker thread)
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? I do have goals. 2 months in to playing and I love the game, all aspects of it intrigue me. To me, doing anything with out some type of goal is rather useless. I am just learning the game so my goals may seem a bit hmm, far fetched perhaps, but the way I see it, you will never get to where you want to go unless you know where it is you want to get to Building up a solid foundation of poker skill and knowledge is my #1 priority. Building up a BR would obviously be #2. Down the road playing as a living would be my desire. Anything less will be unacceptable in my mind. |

Just wanted to say what an awesome site you have here! Obviously I'm new here, just found this yesterday, but I have already learned a few things I've tried to incorporate into my play...
Name: Jeremy
UB Alias - blues_dad
FT alias - bullets_biter

What do you play? Just recently started playing online poker within the last month, playing MTTs and WSOP steps on UB. Haven't started on FT yet.
At what stakes do you play? The MTTs usually anything less than $10 buyins, love the sniper tourneys.
How long have you been playing? Only online last month or so. Have played home games for a couple years, and within last 6 months started playing local card room tourneys $50, no rebuys/addons, usually deep stack tourneys.
Where do you mostly play? Around town in Grand Rapids, MI
Why did you come to FTR? Because seriously I have a weak game and need to improve greatly. I am a very tight, conservative player, and want to change that.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? Specifically, to not play as tight or as conservatively as I have in the past. It works on occasion, have even taken down some nice paydays at the local card room tourneys, but against weak opponents and with lucky cards. |

What do you play? NLHE, and Omaha by accident a couple of times.
At what stakes do you play? $1 SnG at the moment while i find my feet, and the odd freeroll tourney.
How long have you been playing? 1 month (Keeping a log of it all with 42 games so far, a couple of wins, couple of $$$ placings, but far from great results)
Where do you mostly play? PokerStars, but still feeling around for good sites (Any recommendations ?!?)
Why did you come to FTR? This site had sooooo much information, that i have been trying to implement into my game. With such a massive community, most of the "answers" are on here.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? Want to use poker as a supplement to current income, with the goal of wanting to make a living from it, which i am sure a lot of people have tried before. Understand that it is a learning curve, but i think this site will be a massive help.
Have been trawling a lot of the training sites, and have picked up quite a bit from actual gameplay video's (PokerRoom.school).
Some sort of mentor program would be ideal, but would not think that many top players would have the time, nor resources to allocate for something like this.
Learning by mistakes seems to be a general consensus, of which i have made a few, but need to find something to help analyze my gameplay as well.
Thanks for reading.

At what stakes do you play? Micro
How long have you been playing? Played on and off for 1 year. Now im more serious about becoming a better player
Where do you mostly play? FullTilt and PokerStars. And some on Carbon and Bodog
Why did you come to FTR? To learn more and to win. So much info that can help my game on here
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? I would like to get better at MTTs. I do pretty nicely in the micro cash games but not cashing in enough of the mtts i played has put me on the brink of going broke |

What do you play? Mostly $5 SNGs and micro NL ring games
At what stakes do you play? Micro/Low
How long have you been playing? 5 years
Where do you mostly play? Live and PokerStars
Why did you come to FTR? I've reviewed several forums and i like the forum activity here as well as the feedback (both positive and sarcastic) that you the members are willing to provide to help improve ones game.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? Well, i'm here because i want to give the online thing a shot. I've always played live 2/2 to 5/10 NL in Florida but recently due to the 45 minute 1 way drive decided to give online a shot. I just made my first deposit of $100 and want to start off in the lower limit stuff. Probably $5 18 man sngs and $10NL full ring. |

41 yrs old
playing online 3.5 yrs
playing poker live 30yrs
professional sports handicapper for 21 years now
Hello, I've been a gambler ever since I was just out of diapers.I learned to gamble at a card game called Tripoly when I was about 4 years old.My aunt and uncle would come over with a huge bag of pennies (huge to me I now realize it was a Royal Crown whiskey Bag.L.O.L.)They'd play the game with my mom and dad and it wasn't long before I was allowed to sit in.I dominated them at the game in no time.
then at the age of 7 I was allowed to sit at the dinning room table each Thursday and watch as my father and his brother handicapped football games for the up coming weekend. It was about this time that my dad bought a 9 foot gold crown pool table.Since Kenny McCoy a Pro pool player from Columbus Ohio was my uncle, I had a pretty decent coach.I became one of the top Jr. players in the State and later the country by the age of 12.
Well In those days the money was in hustling not on a circuit. So when I got a drivers licences I started road dogging with 2 other friends on the weekends. We would travel up to 200 miles away to get a good game.by the Time I was 20 I had enough money to buy my own pool room and did.I ran a weekly card game had 4 tables 5, 8 line machines and several pinball and video games.
This is where I learned to run a card game and to become a sports handicapper like my old man was.We played a card game we called bird it is very similar to hold'em the math and the outs and all are counted close to the same way.it works like this;everyone is dealt 3 cards in the hole.A round of betting comes then there's 4 board cards 1 at a time a round of betting on each.
Well within a few years I was making the majority of my income on the sports handicapping as I had a real knack for it.I'm proud to say I've never booked a losing season in the N.F.L. or the N.B.A.So that's what I do professionally now.I have a good partner located in Vegas (a must) and I intend to move there when my parents god forbid, pass away.
I play poker for my enjoyment but I like to win as I'm a very competitive person at all that I do.I love this forum and I have read every article here already in 3 weeks.I will always give all my sports picks free because I just love to see people that are used to losing on spots gambling win some money for once in their lives.I have a little site on zoomshare called www.linecrushers.zoomshare.com where I give free picks every day and I give em in posts here too if you look around.later, coyboy33 |
