I had been very tight and given up my BB many times so far, so I doubted a limp R/R slowplay. I guess I should've suspected a small pair, but this guy was a little crazy so I went for it.

yeah it was fine, although some people like to trap with big pairs in the small blind by just calling, so be weary when you get reraised.

Would laying this down be sinful?

I probably would have raised more, 450 at him first, and If he doubled my raise I'd be very suspicious. If you hand't read him as a maniac I'd have to think he was dealt a large pocket pair and didn't want to push you out without trying to extract some extra chips on the flop.
