Any opinions on betting Top 2 Pair from the button as long as it's checked to you? Not boat, flush or straight possible.
When else may it be correct if at all? |

Are you talking about on the river or earlier in the hand?
Couple nights ago I had A 8 2 6 on the button playing 08 3/6. Flop came with 2 diamonds I jammed on the flop. Turn paired the board. Checked to me so I checked as well. River was a diamond and it's checked to me again so I bet figuring nobody was sandbagging a boat and I was right. (no possible low)
It really all depends on your reads of the other players in the hand and what you put them on. I'd bet top 2 pair in the right situation, especially if it's checked to me on the button. |

Yes, on the river. I had a couple identical situations a few nights ago. One was checked to me on the turn, river was checked as well. Another, the board was paired, checked to me on the turn and river again.
I bet at both pots and both went to showdown. I won with top 2 pair. I figured that anyone with trips or a boat would have bet. This is at micro limits but I'm guessing the same would apply to low limits as well, possibly to a lesser extent. |

| Without specific reads on my opponents, I would avoid betting two pair, especially on a paired board or three of a suit an definitley not on the flop. There are too many possible hands that beat you, or draw you out on the turn. |
