Do you think this is being too aggressive and in the long run is a -EV play? Or, do you think this is the correct play if I am confident that my opponents will lay their hands down? |

Nothing wrong with being agressive, but there is a time and place for it...and this early in the tournament is not usually a good spot.
88 isn't a very good hand...more cards in the deck can come out to pair up and beat your pair than can help just you. (most cards other than the other 8's will most likely help your opp out as well)
Get in cheap...if you set then have fun..otherwise I don't see it being worth the risk |

| it's really not worth it that early unless you have magical reads on both players that they're both drawing. |

with that flop, i just check/fold it out, you didnt hit your set, move on. 3 overcards and a possible straight draw, theres tons of hands that have you beat. |

| with people as loose as they often are in these things (not to mension your table looks very wild with 3 people out and the blinds still at level 1) rilla has the right idea. the only raise big enough to win this small pot/make it heads up is too big for 88 to make with some limpers already. As for the flop, it really doesen't get much worse then this unless the flop isn't rainbow. 2 people call a small preflop raise and on that flop i think the question isn't if the flop hit them but how hard. In the words of brave sir robin..."RUN AWAY!!!!" |
