| Excepting Ohio State, which was also massively overrated, USC's schedule is total cake. Why does everyone love this team?? So they get to beat up a whole slew of non ranked teams, so what?? Try playing in the SEC, trojans, and you would get your ass kicked so bad, you might even drop out of the top 20. I'm really sick of hearing how great this team is.. Lets see them play a real schedule. |

there was an article recently on ESPN which talked about teams and their non-conference opponents. USC was at the top of the heap when it came to playing against tough competition outside their conference.
As for conference play, I can't really help you there. If it makes u feel better, terrible UCLA beat tennessee. |

Yeah if they played in the SEC they'd probably struggle against powerhouses like South Carolina.
I actually thought this thread was about South Carolina when I saw the title and I was confused why you'd be bashing them considering how badly Georgia has played against them the last couple of years. |

it cracks me up when people start talking strength of schedule in September. This thread should be auto bumped at the end of November.
Fwiw I do think the perceived strength of the SEC may help down the road when it comes to BCS selections. Many analysts have already stated that they may take a 2 loss SEC team over a 1 lost team from another conference.
I also think Georgia is way better than they have looked so far and will be even better next year (If Moreno stays that is). That freshman receiver (AJ Green??) totally owned the Arizona St. secondary Sat night.
Now, about the Gators. I like what I see so far!!!! |

none of their remaining opponents is ranked in the top 20. I dont know how that puts them at the "top of the heap" |

They're a really good football team that will not get challenged until the end of the year.
Sad thing is that it might take some effect on them.
Think about this, you're a MLB player, and you get sent down to high school baseball (exaggeration here obv) where instead of 97mph fastballs you see 85mph fastballs for 3 months. Then, you get called up and your first at-bat is against k-rod and he starts you off with 98mph gas and you're like a full second behind on it.
Doesn't hold as much weight here, but like when they face some SEC team in the Championship game who is battle tested and has been playing against big/fast teams all year and USC has been eating babies you got to think they will be ill-prepared. |

You mean like a recent National Championship game involving that team in the MidWest? |

Florida loses at home vs Ole Miss... wow I really wish I watched that game. Just saw the highlights at the end.
now we just need some more of the annual SEC clusterfuck drama, have it spill over into the big 12, and maybe, just *maybe*, we'll all be priviledged enough to see Ohio State play in a 3rd straight title game. |

OSU may have been overrated but at least give USC credit for playing someone half decent, if Georgia had played a team the caliber of OSU during their out of conference schedule then we would have already known they sucked before their first big SEC game. |

ha, nice when those turn out.
first I thought UG has been overrated all year, 'bama has looked awesome, saban is one of the best (if not best) college coach in the country, and the kicker for me was watching georgia during pre-game warmups. they were SO SO SO pumped up. unfortunately, with the way adrenaline and energy storage works in the body, that means an energy drought when the game started. of course it probably doesn't matter and it's likely horribly flawed results-oriented thinking, but i think i nailed it on the head. but really, i remember thinking all this before the game even started. |

Yeah me too. I even love watching SEC games because they play some great football. It's the best conference in college football right now, but the gap just isn't as big as the SEC fanboys would make you believe.
Meaningless historical fact that has almost no relevance to college football today: The big 10 has an all-time winning record vs the SEC.
also, how come nobody ever talks about the big 12? They are looking very tough this year, especially the south division. |

| Bama kicked the shit out of us- wasn't pretty. But 1 loss surely has not taken us out of the BCS picture, not by a long shot. In fact, it may be possible for a 2 loss SEC team to make it. Having said that, we were totally embarrassed in the 1st half- it was ugly. |

A 2-loss team has only made the BCS championship game once.. last year.. IIRC. And even then, it was only because LSU looked good in their 2 losses, and lot of crazy ish happened last year (even by college football standards) where basically everybody relevant lost at least twice, besides them buckeyes.
But hey, if the Bulldogs run the table, and that includes @LSU and vFlorida in back to back weeks, and the SEC championship games, they'll probably be the highest-ranked 1-loss team, but even that won't guarentee a spot in the title game.... |

You're probably right, especially with OSU and USC already having losses.
Oklahoma vs Penn State could happen, or something similar. I don't think it will. |

Lol.. I stand firmly behind what I said. Michigan has 7 losses the last 2 years (and more to come) including losses to App State, Utah, and blowout losses this year @ND and vs Illinois.
So you're right, the Illini did beat OSU in a tight game last year, honestly OSU's last loss in the big 10 that I can remember.
It was supposed to be a friendly comment anyway... hey... I never mention anything about the Browns vs Steelers other than that we're their bitch and they clearly have had a better organization top to bottom for a long time. |

| I'm just wondering how much you're going to pile on Michigan this year. I mean obviously the program is down right now and they aren't an elite team. Illinois isn't exactly a bad team either. OSU has contributed to the nation's perception of the Big Ten just as much as Michigan. |

And I quite honestly don't get it. Yeah, they lost to Florida in Arizona, to LSU in their backyard, and to USC in SoCal.
They've also played in BCS bowls the last 5 of 6 years, winning 3 of them, including the national championship win over Miami when they were the undisputed powerhouse of college football.
So yeah I stick by my original statement that UM is making the big 10 look bad, and OSU catches a lot of the flack because of it because the big 10 traditionally has had at least 2 elite programs in OSU and UM. |
