The laws of reality are bending today

Not a bad beat post per se, although it may sound like it. But do you ever question all that poker advice we read and dispense amongst ourselves? Today I am playing my standard tight/aggressive style. As the day has worn on I am actually tightening up, trying to minimize what are already pretty heavy losses. I'm down about $70 on the day - not on tilt though, I've gone out of my way to be more disciplined under the pressure.

But while this has been going on, I've watched the winning hands go by. 62 suited runner-runners a flush. Pocket 4s call a pot-sized bet on the flop with three overcards out (my pocket jacks were second pair), then turn a 4 and go on to win. 82 offsuit calls a pre-flop raise (mind you, not from the blinds, either) - then calls a bet on the flop with just a pair of twos - and turns an 8 for two pair.

This makes no sense to me. Grumble grumble. I'm getting tighter by the hour, trying to dig up some hands to make back a little money, and these other wackos are just playing looser and looser and piling up the cash. The guy who won with trip 4s is up $35 in an hour. The guy with 62 suited was up $80 in an hour and half, and most of that profit was from my pocket.

I guess all I came in here to say was, I hope I run into these same jerkoffs tomorrow. Thanks for listening to me piss and moan.

Icing on the cake. I think that's it for me for the day, and probably for the weekend, and maybe for the week.

Gotta love those hands in NL and PL! You can make up for a lot of lost ground that way...

This has turned out to be one of the craziest days I've had. After the above full house, I raise with AQs pre-flop... flopped a pair of aces and a flush draw, but never hit the draw and lost to the guy who called me with A5 and flopped two pair. I lost a fortune on that. Then I started multi-tabling out of desperation (3 at once isn't my style) and turned it all around. Just now I got black aces on one table, red aces on another table about 30 seconds apart. Won $40 with the first hand, $10 with the second. Now I'm just about even for the day. This is the textbook definition of "swings."
