Here's a thought. I think I suggested this many moons ago and not sure if it ever happened. If it didn't happen it's probably because I only suggested it and didn't take the responsibility to organize it....
The idea is that we set up a private single table SnG game, say, on Stars where a lot of FTR members have accounts. The 9 or 10 of us play a SnG. It may not even need to be a money game for the purpose of saving on entry fees and being BR independent. Each of us saves the hand history, and does a full, detailed HH analysis on it from our own perspective. Then they all send the HH's to me, and I'll compile them into one humongous history, with full commentary and full card information on each player for every hand.
For those who review it, it could be pretty valuable. I'm willing to do the compilation work because I think it would be interesting to see it all anyway. I imagine we will see a lot of things such as the gap concept in practice, and particularly interesting to me will be the 4-6 handed play when blinds start getting higher.
If successful and people like it, maybe we could make it a monthly thing.
A couple questions.
1. Is it a good idea, do you think it will work in practice and will it be valuable?
2. Should we do a money game or non-money game?
I would need volunteers to play, people who are serious players that will take the responsibility to do a full analysis of every hand of their game. PM me if you are willing to take this on, with a subject of "SnG experiment participant". Afterwards, I'll post a list of everyone who responded, and then if we have more than 9 people I could set up a poll post so we can get the players in who most people are interested in seeing play, and it's all democratic and whatnot.
If this idea flies and gets enough response, I'll keep you posted on the next steps. |

I think this is a great idea, thanks for suggesting it. I think it will be very valuable and we should include players of all levels rather than just the best players on this forum. If we have >9 interested participants we can just set up more than one table.
I think we will need to make it a money game as unless I'm mistaken I don't think that PS will set up a private play money game. If necessary we can strike a deal where the winners redistribute the winnings to all players on the table so all everybody pays is the entry fees.
The other way to do this is what was done on 2+2 a few months ago, where a bunch of very well respected players (think ZeeJustin , Curtains, Jason Strasser and others) commented on an entire PP $22 that the organiser played and he put it into the PP replayer with their comments. Search "My gift to the forum" if you haven't seen it already. |

I want to make a clarification - the phrase "serious players" does not mean you need to consider yourself a sng master or that you play a certain buy-in level of sngs. only that you are aspiring for success and want to learn and aren't afraid of a learning experience. No one's going to call you a donk, i promise. You just have to take the experiment seriously and do a good job reviewing your own HH and doing a timely hand by hand analysis after the fact.
I've gotten 4 so far, so thanks for those who have PMed me. |

I'm in!!!
I suggested this before, we played the game, and RL went insane and i never recieved all the HH's....
I'm all for it, I like the play money idea, but people really need to understand that they must play like it means something. |

Good idea
I would play, depending on time (I live in GMT+2 timezone).
I think it should be for money, probably $5 will do, hopefully we can have 2 table Sng if enough people sign up. |

| If we wanna set it up at stars and make it a private tourney, it'll probably have to be for $11. |

Yes, timezone will be an issue as I am GMT +9 (soon to be +10), if timezone is a constraint I'm not going to be the limiting factor. Playing at 4am my time will probably be -EV though!
If we have more than 9 I would rather do two one-table tourneys - I think everybody here has experience at single tables whilst some of us don't play the 2+ tables SNGs. |

(edited for updates to the list of peeps below)
Update:
Thanks for the comments everyone. Yes I agree with scheduling it will be too tricky to coordinate a time that works for everyone across 3 continents. So 2 games is in order. I will handle the North American game scheduling and thanks, da GOAT, for volunteering to handle the one for the European time zones.
Also I agree that we will need to make it a real money game. I think Stars is the right option. Although you also bring up a good point that you need a certain level of points with them to set one up, which I might not have. So I might need to call on someone to set it up, but I can still work on scheduling it.
Here's the current list:
North America game
JeffreyGB
courtiebee
FlyingSaucy
Fimanoid
Anon.E.Moose
European game
Da GOAT
Pants_101
Pulpstar
Other
taipan168
Sorry I should know your approximate time zone, but don't
Laeelin
fjuanl
TLR
MetsFan259
I suggest that if you are in a Euro zone, you PM da GOAT with your exact time zone and your availability, and PM me with your exact time zone and availability if you are interested in the North America game.
It will be a lot easier to schedule once we have that laid out.
I think for purposes of HH's it would be best to keep it to single table games rather than spilling over into 2 tables. So each Europe and American games should be capped off at 9, imo. |

yeah one table is perfect, multis would be too complex. the replayer would onlt show 1 table at a time.
just an $11 dollar table will do.
tiapan will be nearest european time yet he may have to play about 10 or 11pm his time. UK and ireland are about 3-4 hrs ahead of him i think but we can fit him on of course. |

i have emailed stars to see what FPP it costs to get it setup.
it will be a regular SNG not a speed. it was asked above. though its gonna be quite long the analysis we may as well do a good job and get a good few hands in there as itll help more i feel.
no pm's yet but im sure i will be barraged with them in a moment!!! plenty of tim eto get them in. this job wont be a hastily rush one. quality is key |

Update#2: Below I put the responses in order that the people originally responded to the post. I think we are very close to filling up the North America one, depending on the uncatgorized list. I will do my best to schedule this thing, so bear with me over the next couple days. It looks like right now that a week night -6 or -7 GMT will work the best for the American one. I'll keep you up to date.
Here's the current list:
Uncategorized between America/Euro
Laeelin (America or Euro?)
fjuanl (America or Euro?)
MetsFan259 (America or Euro?)
North America game
FlyingSaucy
JeffreyGB
taipan168 <- (Recently PMed me saying the America one probably will work better)
courtiebee
<- The 3 above uncategorized responses fit in right here in that order
Fimanoid
Anon.E.Moose
GatorJH
European game
Da GOAT
Pants_101
Pulpstar
TLR
Da GOAT, note TLR is down for the Euro one, per his request via PM. How about we each keep updated lists separately from here out?
I'll need timezone/schedule preference info about this from the following folks.

| If this is going to go this coming week (week of the 17th), I can't play because I will be out of town. If it's the week after, I'm good for pretty much any evening. I would prefer something 8 pm EST or later though ... I'm on the west coast, so that's 5 pm my time and still pretty early in the day. If that's not possible, I'll try to work around stuff. |

I can set up the games on Stars. They will be regular 10+1 private tourneys.
FlyingSaucy and Da GOAT, PM me when you are ready and have a date/time (in Eastern Time) for each of your respective games (and have assurances from your players that they can participate on said date/time). Once I set up the games, I'll PM you with the password. You'll have to PM each of your players with the password, and MAKE SURE it is not shared. |

Alright yall. Update on scheduling....
So I had PMed everyone who replied that I thought might be able to make it and it turns out over half of you can't make this Friday the 22nd. Doh! Good thing it's not set up yet.
How about this: In order to account for time zones, I've come to the conclusion that the best time of day for the NA sng experiment is 10 PM Eastern. So let's assume it will be at 10 PM Eastern. I'll PM for dates. |

Indeed the 1st round of our SnG experiment is full. The confirmed date/time is Weds Sept 27th 10 PM Eastern time. The name is "FTR SnG Experiment: North America" on Stars. The final list of folks:
FlyingSaucy
Anon.E.Moose
GatorJH
JeffreyGB
Laeelin
fjuanl
MetsFan259
fimanoid
courtiebee
If you're not in, feel free to observe. If this works out and everyone cooperates in returning their commented HH's, we could do it again and get a different group of players. There is also a European one going on, coordinated by Da GOAT. If you think the time might work for you, he's still looking for Euro recruits. Search the forum and you can find more info on it. |

Hello xxxxxxxxxxx,
Thank you for your email. I have reviewed this event and the chat and see
you were concerned because two tables were created for 9 players.
Unfortunately 10 players originally registered for the event and one
player unregistered prior to the start. The system setup the event to
accomodate 10 players and not 9.
The tables have been combined and all players are at the same table. We
do apologize for the inconvenience however the software acted as it should
due to the number of original registrants.
Let us know if you require any further assistance.
Regards,
Trent

Oops. Sorry about that, guys. I usually register after creating private tourneys to double-check that the password is correct, then I unregister.
I won't do it for these 9-player SnGs next time. |

np Xianti, thanks for hooking us up anyway. The prob was over with pretty quickly.
Do you know also if there is an option for doing 10 min blinds like a normal 9 player sng instead of 15 tourney blinds? |

BTW, for anyone interested, I already commented my history and sent it to fasin8ing, just so that we have a 3rd party to verify that I did not in fact look at your HH before commenting on mine, as that would kind of ruin the result of the experiment.
Oh yea, and congrats to fimanoid. |
