I think I had watched too much Poker on ESPN. The play payed off, but was it a bit too risky? I was really hoping for a fold preflop. Is this just a bad habit to get into long term?

You got a sucker on the hook this time but this is generally a losing play. No reason to flirt with danger like this in a low stakes cash game. Better pocket pairs - probably all of them, 88+ - will call you here in a $25 6 max game. The best you can hope for is that he is calling with overcards and misses. You have to remember that these games are filled with a lot of loose calling station types, and a lot of LAggs; any plays that rely on fold equity to be profitable are probably not profitable at this level.

agree with the above. No need to play like this, just call wait for set value and bam unstack him. Too many opps at 25nl think unmade premiums/good unmade hands are the nuts and are prepared to call anything with them. Wiat until you have monsters before doing this, most often they still call.

Definitly agreed. It was a little less then 50-50 if he had overcards. If I had a full stack, I definitly would have just folded.

It paid off but knew it was too risky. I am comfortable with that; Definitly won't get happy with hands like these in the future.
