http://portfolio.iu.edu/dschnaib/no_limit_profit.JPG . Just click that link and glance at the excel sheet I made to keep track of all my poker stats. I may be a records freak or something but believe it or not I have every hand history I've ever played saved on my computer just because I figure I may want to look at them someday and I like to go back and learn from mistakes and smile at my wins. As you see its only like 1300 hands or something because basically I just started playing. Before 2-25 I played one limit session and lost 11 like so fast and then played a sit n go right after and got 3rd. Before that I have pretty much zero real money poker experience. Rounders is what got me hooked. I watched that movie like 30 times in the last few years and had to make my go at it.
Anyway - how does that look? Do you guys have some estimates of what your profit per hand is. That 36 loss at the end killed me. Got my rockets shot down and my 3 of a kind beat by a higher kicker and got demolished.
How many hands do you guys play in a typical session? Fnord and ttanaka in particular because you are both very good and are where I would like to be. Do you make like 15 cents a hand you think? 25 cents? 10 cents? or do you really have no idea? Well any rough estimates would be appreciated. I gotta start somewhere I guess.
Thanks

lol, wow, i like the spreadsheet!
Man, I have no idea how to answer your questions, I never really keep track of # of hands played, I just keep track of general # of hours... and even that I don't log anywhere.
How do you even know how many hands you've played? I guess you can right click on your name when seated at the table, but don't you lose that number as soon as you leave the table? So I probably can't go back and tell you...
Umm... well tonight I played for about 4 hours, I made about $95. However, I probably played a lot of hands because I played three tables at once. Sorry, I guess I'm not helping you much here... |

Yeah I just right click and hit statistics and it keeps track until you actually leave party poker completely. You can switch tables all you want and it doesn't reset. You do have to request hand history every 100 hands though because thats the max request through PPs hand history thing. I'm sure if you emailed them they could send you everything but I wouldn't screw with that.
With the 4 hours $95 at 3 tables I estimate that was about 500 hands if you can get in 40 hands an hour at each one. That puts you at 19 cents a hand or 7.60 per hour per table, which comes out to 91 something so thats about right. Is that about typical for you over the long run? the 95.
Thanks

No, it swings, I lost the prior two sessions for a total of about $100.
Today (Saturday), I played for about 4.5 hrs, mixed between 2-3 tables, made $110.
Again, that was a strong session, but it's not always that easy. |

Hey boondock,
Does that spread sheet do the math automaticly? or do you just type it in?
If it puts it in automaticaly could you email me a copy of it?

http://portfolio.iu.edu/dschnaib/NL_lifetime_stats.xls yeah no prob I'll just post it right here. All the math has formulas so its all auto. The only thing you have to remember is to keep it all working fine on auto you have to right click the blank row # right above grand total and click insert(which inserts a new blank row in the middle) and add your new stuff in that and then just keep doing it to whatever row is blank. If you do that it will work fine forever. Right now that row is on 26 next time it would be 27 and so on. Another thing. For grand total mine is just the card profit total + 266 so I imagine you probably won't even use that part but if you do just change the 266 to any "other than card playing" money you got. The profit per hand is auto too so you don't have to worry about anything there.
Also thats office XP I did that on so if you have something earlier it may not work right. |

Since we're information-sharing here, I thought I'd post a spreadsheet that I try to use when I play just to make my decision-making time faster. I find it somewhat helpful. Those of you more experienced or mathematically inclined probably won't find this useful but if any of you want to use it, feel free.
Basically, it's just an odds chart (the one we all know and love) along with a little Pot Odds Calculator. I know that sometimes when I'm playing and I have to decide whether to call a bet or not and the numbers aren't basic (like calling a $1 bet with a pot of $5 = 5:1 Pot Odds) I can just punch those 2 numbers (Pot Amount and Amount to Call) in this sheet and compare the answer to the Hand Odds chart to see if it is profitable for me to make the call. I just keep it open in the background while I play and refer to it when I need it.
I use it as a general guide and not as bible of course. Sometimes you just go on gut feel But the math doesn't lie!
Anyway, if you want to use it feel free to download it and let me know if any of you find it useful or not. Thanks!

| Cool thanks. I'll check it out. I usually do it in my head but it certainly never hurts having a backup. |
