you're still kicking ass as far as i'm concerned.

my two chips:

- preflop was correct
- i'll even buy the flop bet (i don't like a check here, although, you might have gotten checked back as he set up the trap, but then what are going to do on the turn)
- it's hard, but definitely a fold to his reraise

I like the play. It fits your style. The was no way you could put him on a 10 and the only thing to fear was an overpair like you mentioned. You had to go all in to protect your hand from any overcards after that flop.

The pot was 10K I think the best you could do was make a pot-sized bet, which would have saved you 4000. Even then you probably would feel pot committed and play sheriff only to see the dreaded 10.

I like to limp in w/ a pair like 66.

Pre flop 66 looks ok, but after the flop with no help, it sucks. Just about any flop with no 6 would scare me. My only 2 plays would have been all-in pre flop or fold. Either make him risk all his chips to make a hand or fold.

I don't agree with your preflop bet based on your stack size. I like to be able to get rid of my small PP's if they don't hit. You stack size definatly justifies limping in IMHO.

But, if I bet that amount for some reason - I probably would have done the same thing on that flop. Even if you bet pot, and he called. He was already pot commited for his chips, and I'm sure you probably couldn't get away from you hand for his last chips.

The only thing that sucks is that it only gets a call when your beat.

I play my AKo like my low PP's on the flop. If I dont' hit, I'm usually done with the hand in a full game.

Preflop I agree with. My goal here would be to snatch the blinds - not to see a flop - and your raise was big enough to discourage the blinds from limping in. I would be concerned about being out of position to the chip leader, so I might have folded. At 49K and the button, he's in position to reraise-steal with a reasonable hand.

I would play it differently postflop. As soon as he cold calls your 4K raise for almost 1/4 of his stack, it's time to consider hitting the brakes - he obviously feels pretty good about his hand.

You're certainly a much better tourney player than me, but after that flop I'm check/folding unless a 6 appears on the turn or river. I know you can't fear every flop, but he would have to fold about 60% of the time with that size bet to make it pay off for you, since, as another poster said, he's only calling if you're beat, and you have only 2 outs to draw to. Even if you're not beat, he's likely got 6 outs and a backdoor straight possibility, so he sucks out about 30% of the time.

If you have to bet, I think you can accomplish the same thing with a smaller bet. A 5K bet and he's probably pushing or folding. You could then lay your hand down with 19K to play. (I guess I don't agree that you're pot committed prior to your 14K bet.)

That said, congrats on doing so well in the tourney! I've certainly never finished so well in a large MTT.
