No TIVO, but I've got a DVR (Digital Video Recorder), and it is AWESOME.

You don't miss your favorite shows and you can fast forward through commercials. One of the greatest inventions of all time, imo.

They are essentially the same thing but I think Tivo is trademarked and allows you to enter codes to record shows, where a DVR needs input from your provider with a 'guide' that it can pull show listings from.

TiVo is a brand of DVR, just like Kleenex is a brand of facial tissue, FTW.

If I had to go back to watching commercials and watching everything at the designated time I would probably just quit watching non sports TV.

DVR has changed my life. Not many things I can honestly say that about, and it's kind of sad that this made that short list, but it's true. I watch shows whenever I want now - with most shows I don't even know when they air, I just watch them when they appear on my list of recorded programs. And I skip commercials of course. On the weekends I like to scroll through the movie channels, see what weird shit is playing at 3 am, and record anything halfway interesting for later viewing. I've seen a lot of old, obscure horror movies that way. Plus my favorite feature, and the simplest one: pause or rewind live TV at any point. No more conversations or emergency bathroom breaks covering up part of the show. No more "what did that guy just say?"

I remember pre-DVR TV viewing, and it makes me grind my teeth. These things are awesome.

No idea how DVR/TIVO compares with Sky Plus but no idea how I lived without it.

Tape 2 channels at once. Pause live TV. Fas forward and, my fave, come in late and start watching a programme from the start - even though it hasn't finished yet!

Awesome.

Nice, the last 2 posts got me pumped about getting it. TY. Smile

Ill be the same way Dale. I love TV and its gonna be great to watch everything whenever i want. The sports should be the best though. Being able to pause and rewind live games will make it so much better.

I just blew my load all over my TV. Smile

This is the greatest thing ever ! ! ! ! I will never miss anything ever again, and can watch anything shitty on fast forward. The best part is that i can watch a recorded show and still channel surf on live TV.

Anyone that doesnt have one, needs to get one ASAP.

So sick ! ! ! !

this thread has made me realize that I also need/want a DVR.

Couple of questions:

what brand/features should I be looking for?
What price range is standard?

I rent mine from the cable comapny.

Seriously, its the best thing ever if you want to watch everything thats on and be able to skip through the boring parts.

I couldnt be happier with it unless it had a slot to stick my cock in.
