today im about even stacked with some guy but hes got me stacked by a little. we are down to 16 people in an mtt. i go all-in with AKs, he goes all-in with AKoffsuit. flop 2 hearts, turn heart, river heart, he wins, and goes on to get 2nd in the tourney to win $1683, im out for $86. later im short stacked in a mtt and go all-in with AKoff from the button, big blind calls with AK. flop is 3 spades, turn spade, he has K of spades to win. at least this wasn't late in the tourney like the first one, but still, AK losing to AK twice in 1 day, come on. im not going to bore you with the rest of my beats today, these were the worst 2 by far but i had plenty of others i could ramble on about. today is one of my most depressing days of poker so far.

Now you know why some people consider AKo as "double suit draw". Smile *cough cough*

figured i just had a bad day. so my first tournament today i haven't seen much at all until i pick up KJs in late position with a few limpers, so i limp. one of the blinds raises just over min so i call 45 more chips into a 300 chip pot to see a flop. flop comes 9TQ rainbow, flopped the nuts. the raises makes a decent sized bet, i call. turn is a rag. he makes the same sized bet. i figured since he bet the same amount on the turn as the flop, it looked like he wanted a reraise and thought he had the best hand. so i reraised him and sure enough he goes over the top all-in and i quickly call. he flips over KK, rivers one of the 3 Js left for split pot. so im thinking well, my luck is bad, but at least i still have chips. next hand im dealt AK, couple limpers then a huge raise right in front of me. sine the raise is so big, i call, and we go to the flop heads up. flop QK3, tptk for me, he goes all-in. i think for a minute and decide the only hand he would have gone all-in to beat me with would have been AA, and i really didn't think he had AA so i made the call. he flips over AQ, i got him. turn 3. river Q... 2 outer. these common occurances are almost getting to be histerical

Indeed, it's common knowledge that AKo is better than AKs, because AKo can make 2 different flushes!

down to 24 in another freezeout, AA loses all-in to QJ, rivers 2 pair, with that stack i should have been able to make final table with ease...

and my luck continues.. played round 5 of rounders ( Prima Pokers equivalent of Party Poker's steps challenge ) . single table, first pays $3000, 2nd $1200, 3rd $800, 4th $500. got 5th place when i got rivered. also lost a freezeout today when i raised big with AA, Q9 calls, QJ rag flops, we go all-in, he catches running diamonds for the flush. bubbled out of another tourney when J9 raises early position to 1200 from 300/600 blinds, i went all-in for 3600 with AK. he calls and wins. also lost a couple more on tossups. i dont think i could win a tossup if my life depended on it. I have never seen such a bad luck streak or even thought a streak like this would even be possible. my game is as good as ever, yet i was making much more money back when i wasn't so good because i had average luck then

This is not a horrible run of bad luck.

This is how MTTs work.

You can't possibly win every time you're a favorite. If you want to cut down on your variance, you need to go AI less. Get your chips elsewhere.

Ask soupie, a man who plays only MTTs, how dry you can run and still be super profitable.

:::Maybe MTTs arn't for you:::

just finished 12th of 152 in an a $25 freezeout mtt, short stacked, went all-in from the button with 22, AK calls, flop 23Q.. turn J... river 10.. its like it builds up and gets worse every time... this has been such a horrible run of luck.. as for the comment of maybe mtts aren't for me, i dont think that is the case, because through this horrible run ive managed to nearly break even which i figure is pretty good considering my luck. and in any of these i hadn't had such bad beats late i would have been in a great position to win $1000 or more in payouts.. just sucks how such a bad run happens right when i really get into playing mtts.. it wouldn't bother me nearly as much if i had been playing mtts for a while and had a big bankroll but this really sucks when i start playing. i feel im one of the best players in the field every time i give it a go, then shit luck has seemed to get the best of me

MTTs are just a very, very long term game. You can make 100 bucks one month and 15000 the next.

Just can't let yourself get caught up in 4 or 5 near misses.

You just gotta keep putting yourself in a position to win.

yea, since turning to mtts recently, ive found them to be much more fun than sngs, but much more stressful, and its frustrating to go out late in a tournament without much play after hours of effort. i have found them to be rewarding though and it feels great to make it deep into a mtt. the one time i won a mtt the sense of accomplishment felt great ( even though it was a $3 rebuy several months ago before i knew what the hell i was doing and somehow got lucky enough to win ). im looking forward to my first mtt win with a good payout though and to get it by playing good poker.

if you believe AKo is better than AKs because of 2 flush possibilities, then you have to argue that any hand offsuit is better than if it was suited because of the 2 flush possibilities. suited connectors would no longer be played as drawing hands, but just connectors because the draw to the straight and to two flushes. this is obviously not true. if the board makes 3 to a flush twice as often as 4 to a flush then they hit the flush the same amount of time since there are suits you can hit with if you have offsuited cards. this doesn't happen though, 3 to a flush hits more than twice as often as 4 to a flush, thus making suited more valuable. also, everybody knows 27o is the worst hand right, is AKo were really better than AKs, wouldn't 27o be better than 27s? just something to think about

I present as evidence further reason to create a sarcasm emoticon, as people cannot read sarcasm all the time.

Xianti decided to put on his Post-Nazi hat and made posts only count towards your "post total" if you make them in meaningful forums. The forums you've posted in arn't meaningful.

poker no longer hates me ( aka , i no longer hate poker )

in the last 4 days made 3 final tables in $25 buyin tourneys with an average of about 200 people in each, 3rd place, 2nd place, 1st place, this has ended my drought and im pretty sure mtts are the game for me and wont get as frustrated next time im in a big drought because i know im going to beat these fish in the long run so i think this would be a good end to the thread as it has drifted far from my original whining like a 2 year old.
