I'm SERIOUSLY thinking of moving out there. Not really for poker (though, i wouldn't mind being able to win some money and not have to wait 3-7 days for it...).

Anyone live out there and could maybe answer a couple questions i have? I've been looking for a Vegas-specific message board, but haven't had any luck finding one.

Thanks in advance.

Well that sucks.

The few that are moving out there, is it strictly to live and play, or are you planning on securing jobs first? Also, have you looked into places to live yet? If so, what resources are you utilizing for this?

I will be moving out there in early may for the summer time, Are you looking to move permamently or part time. I am mainly going to play 20/40 full ring and smaller buy in tournies (100-300). Gearing up for the series I guess, plus it will be loads of fun. I dont think it will be quite as profitable as online after expenses, but in my eyes it will be worth it.

that'd be interesting to hear about, you gotta make a blog or post your progress.

I need to, I have been playing semi-pro poker for the last 6 months or so with good success. I am now focusing on big bet poker but limit and stud are my bread and butter. I am not a really big typer, so I dont know how well my blog would be, plus I would be lazy and not be very good at updating it.

I'm talking about moving out there permanently. I'm just tired of where i live, and Vegas seems like a really fun place.

I'm sure i'll play if i live out there, but i'm not trying to "play proffesionally" or anything, i'd still keep a job... Unless i got REALLY good or something.

I've heard vegas is sooo expensive, you'll need a good job or win money regularly at poker to survive.

Through the research that i've done, it doesn't seem expensive. I live in Tampa, Fl. The apartments i found online in Vegas are actually < the ones we have here.

We've talked about moving to Vegas if Fnord continues with the prof. poker playing. Housing seems to be cheaper but utilities might end up more because of the ac (not much need for that in the good old PNW). Who knows, gotta get a year of prof. poker under our collective belts first to see how it all goes.

I imagine with a substantial bankroll you could live fairly easily in vegas... especially around holidays or big tourist times. Just winning a couple hundred a day would do, seems like.
