I had 7M left in the BB.
SB raises 4xBB, I raise all-in, the 2 limpers fold.
I have 2369J
Button draws 2!
I chose to stand-pat, and the button drew to a 8 low anyway - damn luckbox - but I can't really figure out why to do what here.
He's about 2/5 to make a pair and 2/4 to draw an overcard to my Jack on the first draw, so I guess it's pat for the first draw.
On the second he draws one. I guess my Jack is no good if he makes it. He's probably drawing to 20 outs - minus 2 or 3 for me taking some outs and possible straights.
So I'm still pretty sure I was correct not to draw... I'm more likely to make my hand worse than to improve. This game confuses me though.
Isn't there some trick to quickly figure out odds for 2-7?
I guess it would change for triple-draw. I can't expect a J high to hold up there. |

I am pretty sure you need to draw one with a J high and 2 draws left, even if opponent draws 2
BTW I think you have a pretty bad hand to call an AI, but without stack sizes its hard to tell |

I'll have to edit that. He made it 4BB to go, and I raised all-in. It's a marginal hand, but he's overvaluating most of his lowball hands. I won't try to defend this play too much, I know it's pretty terrible in this situation.
- dealers-choice single-rebuy sng with 2-7 double-draw... I don't think I have to tell you that this is a home game
And I haven't played much 2-7... I'm more concerned with why I should draw or stand in this situation.
He had about a 20M left I think. |

I dont play too much 2-7 lowball, but here is my take
With 2 draws when you have position and villian is drawing 2 I think you need to draw one (discard the J obviously)
What happens now depends on what you drew and what villian is doing
Scenario 1 - villian draws one
Stand pat on J or better, draw one otherwise
Scenario 2 - villian stands pat - here is a tough one - if you drew above 9 you have to dedraw this one again, whether or not to discard the 9 is read depedant
Scenario 3 - villian draws 2 - I think I stand pat with Q here, maybe even K, and draw otherwise |
