re: bad officiating in game 2
Halftime Interview with Kobe and some reporter chick:
Chick: You must feel pretty bad about the five missed free throws thus far.
Kobe: Yup.
Chick: What have you done to get to the free throw line 12 times on your own, when in game 2 the team combined for less?
Kobe: Nothing. We are playing the same. |

Thank you Sasha for coming to play. Thank you Kobe for being Kobe. Thank you Celtics for giving up with 28 seconds left.
Gasol, is Garnett that strong or are you reverting back to pussy Euro ball? If thats the case at least hit your free throws,Jesus.
Odom, the Finals have started, please report to game 4. PLEASE!!!!!
Gutty performance Lakers. You should have cruised but you had to gut it out...and you did.
You better play better in game 4 because I'm sure the Celtics will. If you don't, this win ain't gonna mean shit.
Go LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Could not have said it better myself.
Gasol & Odom were non-existent but they still managed to win.
Lakers will win game 4 so long as it's another Bryant vs. Allen match-up. |

so I was just thinking about this...
On all the pre-game, half-time, and post-game shows, how much talk has there been about the lakers/celtics rivalry and their many series of 20+ years ago?
How much talk has there been of the last 5 NBA finals combined?
What does that say about the current state of the NBA, especially coupled with the whole donaghy mess coming at such a bad time? Think about it... |

not sure exactly what you are getting at lukie. only thing i can think of is that they are trying to direct our attention to when the nba was good and less corrupt.
fwiw, i believe donaghy about what he said about that lakers/kings series game 6 in 2002. |

I don't know, I mean I don't really expect them to talk about the boring spurs and eastern conference teams, but I havn't heard any of them mentioned *at all*. I'm constantly hearing about the celtics and lakers from the 80's and earlier. It's just a little weird, that's all.
I agree with you on the donaghy thing. People seem to be making the argument that he's a felon and he's desparate to try to get a reduction in his sentence. That's true. But despite what the talking heads seem to imply, typically that's done by being honest with the feds.... |

guys if yall like the NBA and aren't reading the True Hoop blog on a daily basis you're doing a disservice to yourself.
and as a general response to:

i think they said that it would be the greatest comeback in finals history if they won it. it may have been playoffs in general too, but i dont remember. and no team in nba finals history has come back from being down 3-1.
tbh, if/when boston wins, i think ray allen should be the mvp, but they will probably give it to pierce because he dominated game 1 & 2. |
