Stars $22 FO 14/1328 remaining.
Chip average is about 250k.
Villain is 15/12/7 after about 150 hands and about 25/10 from the BB. I was chip leader until recently when 2 x dominating hands lost to shortstack pushes  My stats for tourney are 22/17/2. I have raised villain's big blind 2 or 3 times during the last 7 or so orbits but have not been relentless....

I really want to fold, but he may think you are tilting and with this board any PP looks pretty good.
I think if we are folding to a c/r here we should check the flop.

So what's the full story with the check behind? Call a 1/2 - 3/4 pot bet on turn, and fold to a big river bet if I don't improve and I'm still sitting on about 170k?
...and as played - How much merit is there in calling here or should it be an easy fold? |

I should have been clear, I think you just have to go with it as played. This is really a great flop to pick you off, he doesn't even need a PP since you pretty much have to fold anything < Qx or maybe JJ.
If the board came unders I don't think I would fold, I might give up if an ace did not slow him down. This is a spot where I think your money goes in sooo much better if he's leading the action. Even if he bets a brick turn and you call he'll never think you have TP, it will look like AK or a weak pair. |

I don't like checking TP as much with a Q or a J hi board as I do with a K or A hi board. But because of stack sizes here, you also aren't doing this for pot control because any second bet will be all-in. So really your choice no matter how you play it is whether you are felting this.
As for hands that beat you, AA, and KK would definitely play this way. I think AQ is pushing pre. Along with any other PP pre there with those stacks - but playing 44-77 this way is sorta sexy. I would push QK there too pre. Which leaves JQ as really the only hand I'm worried about.
So then the question is whether or not he is good. This is a classic line with those stacks with ATC. Whether he is good enough to use that line is a decision you need to make. |

i think you're smoked... but folding would really suck. i'd probably throw up and then call. just not sure why he didn't shove pre with any hand he would shove with now. unless he has a monster.
i dunno... i play $4 tourneys. |

I don't like your bet size on the flop, it looks standard and is inviting the C/R from an aggy Villain, I probably make it about half-pot here, make it look value-ish. So...he C/R, you should push/call/ looks like he's already all-in save a few k so...w/e. His range is too wide for you to fold here, too many middle pairs in there that you are beating, not to mention he's aggy, could just be a move.
I call and laugh at Villain's 66 until the turn and river go 4,5, for a runner, runner straight.  |
