I was going to keep somewhat of a poker journal online, but I've realized it will be easier to do so with multiple different files in office instead of having all the information online.

Feel free to delete this post. If not I may edit this again when I have some useful information.

May the poker gods be kind.

I would not track each exit - I used to do the same thing when I started out but it isn't really helpful and starts to lead you down a results oriented path. Determine when you go out whether your play was good or bad - if you are unsure, post it here. If it was bad, learn from it and move on. Same with any large pots you play.

You should be playing for T$s, not seats in a FTOPS or PAD.

If you can afford it I would suggest putting some money on, you can get plenty of experience beating bad players in tourneys under $5.

I also can't think of anyone who really built a roll from MTTs, I would add in either some SNGs or cash. All MTTs have huge swings, but especially at the lower levels/freerolls because the fields are so much larger. Also, playing SNGs gives good short handed experience that will help at the FT.

Welcome back and good luck.

I see what you're saying about tracking each exit. In itself I don't think it would be helpful. What i'm trying to do is notice different patterns when I bust out.

A- blinds forced play
B- risked chipstack unnecessarily
C- Right play, Bad Beat
...etc
Any ideas on the categories?

Once I figure out all of the categories, I can review the 1000 or so tournaments I've busted out in. If I see that A is contribution to 30% of losses, I should take a look at it. But i'm still in the process of figuring out exactly how I want to do it.

"You should be playing for T$s, not seats in a FTOPS or PAD"
I play in every T$ tournament I can. The FTOPS and PAD are just Bonus games. I'd like to have a free Bonus chance for as many different ones as there are available. "Sign me up".
The T$ games I play in are the 100$ freerolls. $15 for 1st place. $2 for 27th(cutoff)

Thanks and Goodluck at the tables.
