Villain was playing 80/40/3 over 30 hands but struck me obviously as bad but not spewey. My game is a little bit off at the moment so is there any different line I could have taken?

I usually 4-bet this pre but against this opponent I chose to call.

hmmmm. well, i kind of have to get it in vs a player that loose. theres much more in his calling range on flop/turn that isnt only an FD, and i would expect him to still call with made hands, but i doubt he bets them.

is it an easy lay down if he does shove anyone?

Bet the river 100%

Edit: And 3-bet this guy 100%.

I also think river is a valuebet, you'll probs see KJ/KT a lot here.

3-bet pre; raise flop more (he's calling anyway); push river. Though I don't hate a river check honestly. Given his stats he will probably bluff there a lot, so check/calling can't be bad (as long as you're not thinking of folding).

i think betting is way better. theres so many hands we can get value from that he could check behind with and theres not very many hands he is going to be bluffing with.

I think he might bluff with all kinds of busted draws and 2nd best hands (KQ, QJ, QT, 89 come to mind). A good player checks many of those down; he doesn't seem like a good player.

But I'd still prefer to just bet it. He probably calls with KQ and maybe QJ anyway, though he also will probably throw away the other two.

I think he means the guy's just not a spaz post-flop. Just one of those guys that loves to see flops.

Exactly. He liked to play loads of pots but kept them generally very small. My range for him was actually very strong here and that was the reason for the river check. However, thinking back I immediately thought that he perhaps would never bluff here and would even check down a set on this board.

this river clearly is a push since he will push better if checked to and your committed to the pot and force to call anyhow.

this is the easiest river shove of all time that does not involve holding the pure nuts

Thanks for your help and I agree with 'almost' everything you guys said. I think cold calling with AQo oop against this guy from time to time makes sense.

But as soon as I checked the river I thought "wtf are you doing man - you would be calling a push anyway" and was not surprised to see a set of Jacks.

Suck. Can't believe he didn't try to get it in on the flop.
