BB is OK. VPIP 36%, PFR 17%, AF 1.6
MP3 is a maniac and has two cards.

BB noticably hesitated before calling two bets on the flop.

FullTilt Poker Limit $3.00/$6.00 Texas Hold'em (5 handed)

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is Button with 9Heart 9Diamond
MP3 calls, CO folds, Hero raises, SB folds, BB raises, MP3 calls, Hero calls

Flop: 4Heart 6Diamond 2Heart (9.5 SB, 3 players)
BB checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, BB calls, MP3 calls

Turn: AClub (7.8 BB, 3 players)
BB checks, MP3 checks, Hero ...

What's my plan here? I'm torn between trying to see the showdown cheaply (check behind) and forcing them them to pay to see another card (bet). If I bet, what's my plan if BB raises?

I would take a bet/fold line here, at least to a BB raise, unless I thought BB was likely to try a c/r bluff (and I guess at 3/6 there should be quite a few players capable of the play). Now, what would you do if the maniac raises, and would it matter to you whether BB called or folded before that raise? Meanwhile I would definitely fold if two bets came back to me!

I go cheap showdown. Don't call more than one on the river either (unless of course you hit a 9). Most chasers are chasing an ace, and at least one of these guys is a chaser.

If it was anything other than an ace I'd probably bet/fold. Ace I check behind most of the time. That gives garbage hands a chance to try a river bluff, and doesn't give better hands (like ace rag) a chance to checkraise you.

I prefer to bet here. It should fold out hands like KQ, QJ, etc. that have 6 outs against you, and it may even fold out a better pp which is a major coup. Since you've been representing a big hand the whole way it's pretty unlikely anyone will try any tricky plays here, so I think you can make a pretty safe fold if you get check-raised.
