Stud strategy sites are so few and far between that it can be hard to find good information. Id like to have this thread be full of links. Please add to it if you know of any usefull sites for Stud Hi ,Stud 8/b or Razz.
Thanks... |

Do you seriously only play trips, hi pair, 3 flush, 3 straight type hands? Seems like you have to be uber tight pre.
Also, getting reading super system 2 (maybe 1, I think razz is in there) would be good if you haven't wes. |

I have both SS 1 + 2.
You dont only play nut hands. There are times (like all poker) where u can play any hand. It all depends on your opponentes and your image.
Are you interested in playing or just curious? |

both
that's just what the guide said
Thing is, I played a horse tourney and stud and stud8 are easily my worst games. They seem ghey, I was looking for where the edge was. I remember in the past thinking that stud seemed like a game I would like.
So to modify my last Q, is pf stud similar to what I laid out + reading the board on 3rd/4th street. put another way, do you play your nut hands, and give up on un favorible 4ths, but continue with less favorable starting hands if your outs are live. That seems to be a retardely simple question |

Lol, we should play as a team because when i play horse i sit out the holdem and omaha 8 picks and pwwwwwwwn those retards in the stud picks. We could crush it. :p
As far as your question goes. Kind of, but you really need to play and gain a feel imo. Its really read dependant and based on what cards are live for both you and your opponent.
Micros and tourneys are pretty much nut camping because no one folds ...EVER. If you watch a $10/20 game or higher you will see its much more about agression. So its hard for me to give you a definitive answer.
TLR is way better than me, and may be able to help you out more. I feel very inadequate giving poker advice. All i can say is read the various links that i add and good luck.
Where do u play??? maybe we can play together and discuss shit on MSN. |

I don't play. I played in a HORSE tourney last weekend and was OMGWTF in the stud games. I won a couple hands because they're loose/passive/bad, if I would have followed the tight guidelines I think I would have folded every hand. I did fine in razz.
I will probably play eventually, because HORSE seems like a lot of fun. and I would have to imagine it would be very profitable if you didn't have a weak game. |

nice post Wes.
I'm gonna play a cheap HORSE game tonight after reading some of those links - sounds fun. I always wanted to play Razz after reading SuperSystem a while back, but never got round to it and I've played 7 card stud a few times.
Real noobie question....are all the games in HORSE Limit?
You play any 5 card stud? I played a $1 SnG for a change yesterday and am gonna play some more. Was good fun, even if i got pwned at a $1 game - no one told me K- K ain't much good when you've been re-raised...... |

Actually SS1 has a very good Stud Hi section written by Chip Reese.
I would recommend it to anyone reading this. |
