I just finished by first MTT. Made final table and ended in fifth place! It can't all be beginners luck right? It was a 1+0 Limit O8 at PokerStars. Won $57. :-)
I did make some mistakes but no really bad beats (unless you count the ones I did to myself :-). I found the play much easier that the miro limit ring games I've been playing on Stars. Is that typical?
I'm not jumping right into the $200+15 tourneys just yet. :-) |

No bad beats? Then you either weren't playing omaha or you got some beginners luck
Omaha is much easier to break .vs holdem, but there just isn't enough action for it. |

5th play is impressive... it probably wasn't completely because of luck though, nor completely because of skill... It's easy to do good in Omaha hi/lo with no bad beats hitting you in the back...
Drawing conclusions for only one tournament is not possible. And probably you are facing the very easiest competition playing 1+0 tournament aswell.. which poker player who consistently win money playing poker, would spend hours on a tournament with just 1 dollar buyin when he can sit and make much better money on real money tables or at higher buyin tournaments?
Sometimes finishing first among hundreds of players you wonder why you haven't started making a living playing poker. Play a few 10-player sit and go tournaments, and you will know why... Ask yourself how you can finish 5th in a tournament with 1000 players, but not top 3 in a tournament with 10 players? (not as often as you would if you were really good)
however, wish you luck in the future...! |
