-Villain is pretty taggy 23/18 but we haven't had much confrontation today
-He's definitely capable of running a bluff or making thin call downs against me cause I think I've spewed against him in the past, but we've been staying out of each others way this session
-I think this is one of the first times he's called my 3-bets today

Both hands are the same hand, but two different scenarios:

Scenario 1

CryptoLogic
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $2/$5
6 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $492
UTG+1: $705.90
CO: $549
Button: $1026.15
Hero: $1415
BB: $533.40

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is SB with Ace of Diamonds King of Hearts
3 folds, Button raises to $20, Hero raises to $70, BB folds, Button calls.

Flop: Seven of Spades Two of Hearts King of Clubs ($145, 2 players)
Hero bets $105, Button raises to $285, Hero calls.

Turn: Three of Hearts ($715, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $485, Hero?

Scenario 2

-my river donk bet was to induce a raise from nonsense air if he got there with air (making him rep the ace) and I'd also expect to get raised here if he had me with a set
-are we folding this river ever?
-are we shoving this river ever?

Hand 1. Marginal spot.

On the flop I would decide if I'm going with the hand. If it's good enough, then I'm calling his raise and c/r any turn. If I'm not, then I'm not calling his raise. That's right, cbet/folding flop. I really can't say which line I would choose here, but I would usually not b/c flop and c/f turn.

Hand 2. More interesting.

No we're never folding. Don't really see the value in 3-bet shoving here although it's an interesting thought. His range contains too much air, sets and even flushes for a shove to be good I think.

I'm REALLY not sure i'm capable of just b/f this flop. I should probably learn to do that! I think I need to call here just because i feel like this is an obvious flop for me to bet at (esp given how dry) and so this could also be an obvious board for him to bluff raise me repping the K.

A lot of times villain might give up on his bluff if called on the flop. I do agree I should probably figure out if I'm going with it or not on the flop, though sometimes I just like to see how villain reacts to my actions before deciding how strong he actually is.

Absolutely true. This is a good spot for a bluff raise. The problem is that he is pretty much representing AA/KK/77/22/Air, since KQ/KJ would probably call instead being IP and wa/wb on this dry board (unless he likes to merge of course). Some players also raise here to protect their midpair hands. Both your hand and your range is behind his range here (slightly) and you are OOP, so not a nice spot for you.

If both of you have a decent image, then he will very often continue bluffing on the turn or even turn his weak made hand into a bluff. He needs to protect his flop raises with another barrel. He also knows that if he checks the turn, then you have the possibility to make a very credible bet on the river representing AK, whether you've got it or not.

By the way I think this flop is a good candidate for a bet/CiB/call... Smile

Hand 1: I agree with P4 that you should either b/f flop or play for stacks. c/c flop is a good option also (because you are 200BB deep), but you have to call him down then.

Hand 2: Now that you made this small river bet you have to call him since you induced a raise. No value in shoving.
