Introduction
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It's a simple chat interface we use to talk to each other during the day, and it usually has a minimum of 15 players at all times of the day, and typically peaks around 30 players in the evenings/night Eastern time.
IRC is perfect for people who like talking about poker or talking with poker players, but don't feel like they're reaching their full potential with the forum/bulletin board interface for communication.
Connecting to IRC
Check out my video on how to connect to #flopturnriver using the mIRC client: http://www.spoonitnow.com/media/irc2.html
Alternatively we have euphoricism's instructions:

Plus IRC clients have ridiculously more functionality. And it doesn't disconnect you or exit out if you hit the wrong buttons (maybe I am just an idiot).
I'm all for IRC over the web chat, it is like, 1000 times better.
If none of the higher-ups here want to do it, I can work on it or something. I dunno.
I'm not a fan of the web chat though, even if I am in there all the time. |

Which is exactly what my first point was -- to have it ran by mods.
Omfg I'm such a mover and a shaker. Like one minute I'm like omfg let's have IRC channel and 10 minutes later there's like a dozen people in there. |
