What do you play?: Stud8, Omaha hi and Razz are my best games
At what stakes do you play?: Low stakes right now, because I'm almost broke
How long have you been playing?: Well, my dad taught me to play 5CD when I was about 6, but I've been playing seriously for about 5 or 6 years now
Where do you mostly play?: PokerStars and Full Tilt
Why did you come to FTR?: I came to learn from those who know more than me, and share what I know with those looking to improve their game
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?: To climb out of the damn micro stakes that I hate so much. |

What do you play? Mostle NL HE, although i did my first limit tourney the other day, placed 120th out of 10000 (freeroll, top 99 got spots to a 2K cash tourney), so i might look into more limit... I LOVE tourney play. SnG's, MTT's - there's a definite start, middle, and end game to do well there. There's something so satisfying about sitting down with a bunch of people and ending up with all their chips! (As opposed to grinding away their stacks 10 cents a hand - although i'm sure it gets more satisfying at 10 dollars a hand).
At what stakes do you play? I just started! Play $, but a few days ago got the signup Bonus $10 at VC, so i've been on there playin .01/.02 NL the last 3 days. I want to get comfortable - and do a little more learning about Rakeback, Bonus, etc. - and then find a site to deposit at (plus deposit Bonus!) Did a 6 man $1 SnG (my first cash tourney) and won a whopping $4.30!
How long have you been playing? about 3 weeks... don't laugh too hard, i'm as stubborn as they come, i'll get there... I'm an engineer, so i'm pretty math-oriented, but i've learned that poker is only half numbers... the other half is touchy-feely, prey on the weak, !get inside your head! psychology stuff... playing like 3 days for real $ (care of my $10 signup Bonus!). I'll invest more when i feel good about whooping the .01/.02 table, or when i lose all the free money that's available to me... lol
Where do you mostly play? PS, VC
BR: $10.03 - yep, i'm a lifetime winner... lol. Some FOOL was shoving like half the time at the .01/.02 tables, so i made a stand with KK vs his 88, and he rivered an 8. Whaa whaa... i know. Took me all of 3 days to get a bad beat story... So i lost most of the $10, but built 'er back up with my SnG win and some grinding at the table.
Why did you come to FTR? The genii who post here, of course.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? I want to build a BR, and play better poker. Something that i haven't found addressed here at all is building a bankroll with tourneys, SnG's, MTT's, even HU? Is this possible? Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't mind playing at the ring games (after all, it's poker - I LOVE THIS GAME), but much prefer the tourney game to the GRIND. Also, how do you learn to play better HU? Anyone wanna play for $1? Sounds like a cheap poker lesson to me. Lol!
Thanks for all the good info everyone - this site is my new #1 time waster (or should i say investment...)! I plan on posting a few hands up here soon to get a little advice. CYA! |

What do you play? NLHE
At what stakes do you play? micro
How long have you been playing? 1yr (on/off)
Where do you mostly play? Sportsbook
Why did you come to FTR? I’m rethinking my “poker life” There are many reasons I suck hard at poker, lost confidence in my game, and have stopped playing altogether. I really love poker and do miss it, but I had to step back and evaluate what went wrong and have come to realize some serious problems:
• Not really understanding the math behind the game.
• Predictability- “Changing gears”
• Reading online table activity.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? I can’t think that fast AND keep read what I need to read. I’m good at finding alternative methods of doing things, but I’m stumped with this. I found royal flush club site and wonder what you all think of it. |

My name is Austin but my alter-ego is "Awesome Cooltart". I love playing cards and am lucky to have a wife who also has a genuine love of the game (it definitely makes life at home a hell of a lot easier lol). While I haven't really had any earthshaking cashes I have made some decent cheddah playing mostly online and in live tourneys. I'm interested in growing my relationship with the forum in the future. Here's my breakdown:
Name:
Awesome Cooltart
Age:
32
What do you play?
No Limit/Limit Hold em, Omaha, Stud, 2-7 Triple Draw
At what stakes do you play?
Typically I play the lower stakes. Usually I'll play a $.25/$.50 or $1/$2 ring game. I also play a lot of tourneys and love playing SNGs ($10-$100 buy-ins).
How long have you been playing?
3yrs
Where do you mostly play?
Most of my time playing is spent online (Poker Start, Full Tilt, Bodog, Doyles Room, Absolute, Ultimate Bet, Players Only, BetUS, and PokerTime) but I do also play in live games weekly.
Why did you come to FTR?
I actually just stumbled on the site while surfing one day. Seemed like a rad site so here I am.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?
Well of course just like anyone playing I want to be one of the best. I really like going over hands and ideas with other players and feel that anyone, even the best, can learn something new.[/color] |

What do you play? NL Hold'em. Cash, MTTs, SNGs.. Anything goes!
At what stakes do you play? Been fucking about at everything from $5NL to $400NL. But I'm going to start winning from now on, probably at $25NL.
How long have you been playing? Since I was 17
Where do you mostly play? PartyPoker and PokerStars. I might start playing at Full Tilt though, if I'm able to get a Rakeback deal.
Why did you come to FTR? Came here ages ago, to improve my game. Ages passed, and I can't say I have improved so far. Going to do something about it though.
Getting in touch with other poker players is great aswell, I come from a small town where you can count the players on 1 hand.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? My goal is to avoid losing money. You're helping by providing inspiration and information. Keep it up! |

Name is McGill
Been playing online for about 6 months
Mostly play NL Holdem MTTS....I love the rebuys. Usual buyins around $10-$30. As of late, have found I have an incredible knack for HORSE games. Maybe its beginners luck at the micro limits....If I play cash games its usually $1/2 - $3/6 Holdem and $2/$4 Razz. Play mostly at the smaller sites AP, Bodog. Would like to start playing the $11 super tourneys on Stars.
If anyone knows of a good HORSE thread, or a thread for those super huge MTTS please help.
Found out about the thread through luck, its one of the best. |

What do you play? NLH SNGs and MTTs from time to time
At what stakes do you play? small to micro
How long have you been playing? about 2-3 years now
Where do you mostly play? Full Tilt $1-$5SNGs and from time to time in casino live (small tournaments for like 40$ buy-in) or home games
Why did you come to FTR?
I read some books and tried to get own thoughts about the game but since I feel I'm a little stuck at ABC Poker, joining some discussions maybe very usefull to improve from a mostly losing or break even to a winning player (at least in the low buy-in games). Well, and it may be fun, too . I guess I will be a frequent reader/poster in the Beginners, SNG and HU forums.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?
I have pretty big leaks in identifying +ev pushing situations (just don't have the balls at times ) and in HU play. |

Oh, hey, I just saw this thread. I really could have used it to help get to 10 posts too
Name: Jake
Age: 27
What do you play? No limit holdem, 6-max ring games
At what stakes do you play? Right now 0.05/0.10 micro limits. I plan on moving up gradually as my bankroll reaches the appropriate milestones.
How long have you been playing? I played various forms of poker since I was a kid, but never holdem. I was introduced to holdem a few years ago I guess, and just started playing with real monies earlier this month.
Where do you mostly play? Absolute
Why did you come to FTR? To learn. I was questioning my play and not coming up with answers. Now when I question myself I can get educated responses.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? You've already been very helpful. I'll continue to be a sponge. I don't have any specific goals other than to be a really freakin good poker player |

What do you play and what stakes:.25/.50 nl and some tourneys
How long have you been playing: Cards since I was 5 or 6 just really started playing hold em seriously for about 4 months and found a new favorite hobby
Where do you mostly play: PS & FTP
Why did you come to FTR: To improve my game so I can keep my bankroll going. I know how to play cards but I want to learn how to play to win consistently. I have had some tournament successes occasionally that gave me my bankroll but I look back and see that there was a fair amount of luck involved there and I would like to make the successes a regular event.
Do you have any goals: To make a supplemental income that is consistent by the end of the year |

Oops - didn't spot this thread...
Name: Tim
Age: 36
Country: UK
What do you play? Currently slightly overolled $10NL, with occasional shots at $25NL to speed up my Bonus whoring.
How long have you been playing? On and off with miniscule roll and sucky play for a couple of years, but seriously/properly since December 07
Where do you mostly play? Just moved from UB to FT, but still play the occasional SnG on UB
Why did you come to FTR? Google made me do it. Realised that the successful players on here are willing to teach, and everyone is willing to learn, so thought I'd sign up so people can shout 'you SUCK' until I don't. So much.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? To see where and why my game sucks. To suck less. Then one day not to suck at all. Immediate goals are to get to grips with multitabling, and to build roll to $1k so I can multitable $25 unscared. Ultimate goal is to be able to post on FTR with some answers, not just questions. |
