Hi All,
I'm from Holland and playing poker for some time.
I still consider myself as a beginner.
Even that I played a long time now I play only low stacks.
I started playing PP/PS for playchips ... 3 months back I made my first deposit on PS and played $1 speed SNG's.
First SNG I made it to 4th spot and made. 3th time I even made it to 2nd. After that a lot of losses ... and made a 5th spot later one ....
Cash games didn't go wel .. after I was down to $5 I wanted to go back to $10 and play tight. But every time I made a nice hand (straight, flush, full house) there was somebody with better cards ....... so I lost te rest.
Now I'm gonna make a new deposit, but not sure wich site I will use ... PS have lower tourneys/SNG's, PP could be more fun because some friends play there ....
I play for FUN and not to make money .. I don't make a mistake by thinking that i'm good and make some money ... just the fun and not loose to much money ..
BTW: I did one live SNG at the casino ... 10 players ... €10 buy-in and became first and won €50,--
EDIT: I see that I am a member as of july 2007 .. I think I started playing poker 2 month before that.
I did make some posts I thought, but it's not counting .... |

What do you play?: Mostly small stakes NL.
At what stakes do you play?: The lowest possible right now until the BR and experience is built.
How long have you been playing?: On and off around 10 years, I played heavy for a bit a few years ago (and a former "ghost" member of this place) but lost the BR and just getting back in the game.
Where do you mostly play?: PartyPoker
Why did you come to FTR?: To learn.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?: To be an overall good poker player and a potentially good/great NL player.
I'm really looking to learn from everyone here to improve my game. I guess you could call me a "rogue naturale". I've been playing cards for a long time, self-taught, and a completely bloody maverick. I've finally learned - the hard way - that without a solid foundation beneath me I'll always end up crashing and burning. So, here I am.

What do you play? - I mostly play online, just recently like yesterday I played in my 2nd tournament in AC (first time was Las Vegas) I placed 21 no money but it was a great experience I know now that I will be playing in more live tournaments.
At what stakes do you play? - Right now low stakes I am thinking of stepping it up online to more, live games I am starting out at $40 with a rake of $10.
How long have you been playing? - I have been playing for about 5 years.
Where do you mostly play? - online
Why did you come to FTR? - to meet other players I also would like to find good local places to play. I am on long island going to AC, FW is good but I am not always interested in traveling 2-3 hours to a game. It would be nice to find something in NYC or even closer like suffolk or nassau county.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? - My goal is to one day play in the WSOP. In the near future I will be playing in more live tournaments so that I have more experience to draw that experience. FTR can help by offering any tools, tips and suggestions for what one should do to prepare to play in the WSOP tournament.
thanks

Mostly NLHE but dabble in fixed as well. New found obsession with nl O8 and fixed omaha
At what stakes do you play?
micro
How long have you been playing?
online about 2 plus years and live about 5 years
Where do you mostly play?
Stars
Why did you come to FTR?
Cuz I mostly suck and want to improve.
Do you have any goals and how can we help?
No specific goals but would like to have an roi that is positive. I have been mostly a losing player. My money lasts a long time but I usually donk off my roll and have to rebuy. I mostly play MTT's and Sng's but also play a little full ring FLO8.
I have lurked here for sometime and really believe that many of the posts have slowed the hemorrhaging of my money. So thanks for that. |

Hi Guys!
I'm Mikey,
I am 34
I Play texas holdem
I have been playing since my 19 year oldnephew taught me the basics over christmas then stole all my cash
I play on PKR (which is great) and 2 iPoker sites, and cardoza games (but not too happy with them.
i googled poker forums and FTP came quite high and seemed good. The main reason i joined is to find out more about what seems an interesting game and not loose as much money. I am after some advice on what to read. Any other tips would be good. I also want to know why i havent yet recived the free books that cardoza games promised me? I havent yet recived a reply from the site. |

What do you play? NLHE
At what stakes do you play? Currently $2 ring to build a roll the proper way.
How long have you been playing? Since July of '07
Where do you mostly play? PokerStars
Why did you come to FTR? To improve
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? To move up through the ring game stakes (as I'm ready) and build a nice roll for making some supplemental side cash and to be able to play in the higher $ MTTs (Sunday Million etc)
I definately need help in a few areas! I'm sure they will be addressed bit by bit as I read and post. |

What do you play and what stakes: NL Holdem. I'm sticking with the $3.40 turbo SnGs. I have a small bankroll but I can't wait to increase it and move up as I learn more.
How long have you been playing: I learned in mid-high school. Maybe 6 years ago? I learned with givememyleg... we played without blinds because we had no idea what they were Come a long way since then.
Where do you mostly play: Strictly PokerStars. I want to get a big enough bankroll to play all the bonuses on other U.S. friendly sites.
Why did you come to FTR: Mainly because my buddy givememyleg pretty much lives on this forum. An d because I want to be part of a community and learn how to be a better player at the same time.
Do you have any goals: Goals... simply put, to better my game. I'm not terrible at poker, but I'm no where even near good. I have poor discipline and an overall lack of the knowledge I need. And of course, to be profitable.
*Note: I doubt anyone would remember me, but a while back I joined the forum under the name FatteyMattey. This is my new account, and hopefully I'll be more active this time around. |

At what stakes do you play?: Low stakes right now, because I'm almost broke

Where do you mostly play?: PokerStars and Full Tilt
Why did you come to FTR?: I came to learn from those who know more than me, and share what I know with those looking to improve their game
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?: To climb out of the damn micro stakes that I hate so much. |

What do you play? Mostle NL HE, although i did my first limit tourney the other day, placed 120th out of 10000 (freeroll, top 99 got spots to a 2K cash tourney), so i might look into more limit... I LOVE tourney play. SnG's, MTT's - there's a definite start, middle, and end game to do well there. There's something so satisfying about sitting down with a bunch of people and ending up with all their chips! (As opposed to grinding away their stacks 10 cents a hand - although i'm sure it gets more satisfying at 10 dollars a hand).
At what stakes do you play? I just started! Play $, but a few days ago got the signup Bonus $10 at VC, so i've been on there playin .01/.02 NL the last 3 days. I want to get comfortable - and do a little more learning about Rakeback, Bonus, etc. - and then find a site to deposit at (plus deposit Bonus!) Did a 6 man $1 SnG (my first cash tourney) and won a whopping $4.30!
How long have you been playing? about 3 weeks... don't laugh too hard, i'm as stubborn as they come, i'll get there... I'm an engineer, so i'm pretty math-oriented, but i've learned that poker is only half numbers... the other half is touchy-feely, prey on the weak, !get inside your head! psychology stuff... playing like 3 days for real $ (care of my $10 signup Bonus!). I'll invest more when i feel good about whooping the .01/.02 table, or when i lose all the free money that's available to me... lol
Where do you mostly play? PS, VC
BR: $10.03 - yep, i'm a lifetime winner... lol. Some FOOL was shoving like half the time at the .01/.02 tables, so i made a stand with KK vs his 88, and he rivered an 8. Whaa whaa... i know. Took me all of 3 days to get a bad beat story... So i lost most of the $10, but built 'er back up with my SnG win and some grinding at the table.
Why did you come to FTR? The genii who post here, of course.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? I want to build a BR, and play better poker. Something that i haven't found addressed here at all is building a bankroll with tourneys, SnG's, MTT's, even HU? Is this possible? Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't mind playing at the ring games (after all, it's poker - I LOVE THIS GAME), but much prefer the tourney game to the GRIND. Also, how do you learn to play better HU? Anyone wanna play for $1? Sounds like a cheap poker lesson to me. Lol!
Thanks for all the good info everyone - this site is my new #1 time waster (or should i say investment...)! I plan on posting a few hands up here soon to get a little advice. CYA! |

How long have you played: I have been playing off and on for the last year and a half. But I taking it more seriously the last couple of months.
Where do you play: I am playing on Poker Stars.
Why do you come to FTR: I wanted to get better at poker. Checked out a couple crappy strategy sites to begin with. Then I found FTR and have been here ever since.
Do you have any goals: I would like to playing 100NL by the end of the year. |

At what stakes do you play? micro
How long have you been playing? 1yr (on/off)
Where do you mostly play? Sportsbook
Why did you come to FTR? I’m rethinking my “poker life” There are many reasons I suck hard at poker, lost confidence in my game, and have stopped playing altogether. I really love poker and do miss it, but I had to step back and evaluate what went wrong and have come to realize some serious problems:
• Not really understanding the math behind the game.
• Predictability- “Changing gears”
• Reading online table activity.
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)? I can’t think that fast AND keep read what I need to read. I’m good at finding alternative methods of doing things, but I’m stumped with this. I found royal flush club site and wonder what you all think of it. |
