I've been away for awhile, so I don't know if this has been brought-up yet. I was in the book store the other day looking at any new books on poker and came across the new Sit N' Go Strategy book by Collin Moshman. It is a 2+2 book so I figured it should be decent.
So far I'm halfway through the book and it is pretty good. Most of the stuff I know but it solidifies what I have learned. The book touches on early play, middle play and late play. It also talks about blind stealing and restealing. Not to mention a whole chapter on ICM.
X-man, if you like, I can provide a review once I have finished. I plan to read it several times so I will type something up as soon as I can. |

Hey man, a review would be great. If you did one I'd provide a link in the SNG Tactics Forum too since we would be the target audience!
We should also start a campaign of lobbying Stars to make it available for purchase using FPPs. |

Cool. It's a decent book, but I'm not ready to provide my review just yet. I plan to read it again. I can say that it opened my eyes when it came to being aggressive and restealing. |

Bump.
Disclaimer: This isn't meant to be a comprehensive review.
I read the book and overall I'd say it was a 7/10 for me. I must say I didn't agree with everything that Collin wrote in it (my copy is full of pencil scribbles where I made notes to that effect!) but overall it covers the critical parts of the SNG (late game with large blinds) very well. It also devotes quite a few pages to discussing ICM and the consequences of it which is essential for SNG play.
In terms of ground-breaking new concepts, if you're an experienced SNG player and read and post on FTR and (ahem) 2+2, there won't really be any - but there's no harm in reinforcing what you already know. Even if you disagree with some of the recommendations at least it will make you think about why. I also agree with Sprayed that it promotes a high degree of targeted aggressiveness which is essential for winning players IMO. |
