I am a very successful big multi player. I have final tabled in my last two on Full Tilt. But in my last 4 or 5 big multis I seem to always finish 8th or 9th. This is causing me to re-evalulate my final table play.
Any critique/discussion on this hand for example would be helpful.
I was massive chip leader at this point with 21 players remaining.

When I bet the flop, I had him on a medium pair and figured I was still ahead of the desperate all in from the player UTG. I didn't think he would flat call w QQ. |

| I didn't think successful MTT players bluffed dry side pots. |

I'm not the greatest MMT player, so take my advice with a pinch of salt. Sure you could call UTG push with AJ, but a player has called in between and now this seems like an easy fold preflop.
The the flop bet is just stupid, check/fold or hope it checks down. It's a dry side pot. |

| Yeah, I agree. The reason I posted this hand here, was that I felt that I greatly misplayed it. |

Of course its a world-class bet if he folds 99 and my A high scoops the pot. But that's a pretty low percentage play and not the play I need to be making there.
I went a little "big stack" crazy. |

It would be no such thing. It's an amateur donkey play that can sometimes win the pot.
You just proved your complete unawareness of basic tournament play concepts.

44, so sad. I feel bad when poor, insecure players use this site to vent their own pathetic frustrations. And stop begging me for $5 in the chat box. It's embarrassing.
Come find me on FT, whenever you wanna lose a buy in. |

In that case of course Gabe! But in this hand OP thought he was behind and tried to bluff!

Do you mean actual sidepots or dry sidepots?
I actually saw David Sklansky trying to steal a dry sidepot with ace high in a televised WPT event once (you can guess what Mike thought of that...). He got the other player to fold his hand (which was worse anyway), but still lost to the committed player. I think the play was atrocious and only increased the equity of the committed player.
If someone still wants to try to steal a dry sidepot, then at least do it with a smallish bet. Stealing dry sidepots is so uncommon amongst good players that people will usually give credit to a bet. I still don't recommend doing it. |
