I feel like i probably missed alot of spots later on in the tournament, but i lack SNG Wiz (trial expired) and my roll is no where near large enough to buy it retail! so i was wondering what you fine gents thought of my play. I feel like i got really lucky to money this... the 2 big stacks ran into eachother the second to last hand. |

jordan,
I've had tons of experience with the 3.00 SNG's, so I'll give you my best commentary. As for your play, I think you played well overall, and I don't think you missed many spots in the late stage. I also thought your bubble aggression was good. I'll point out any problems in the hands. Here we go:
Hand 1 (Qd Td): Just fold from MP1. No need to limp this from that position.
Hand 2 (Tc 2d): Sometimes in an SNG, I will make these calls from the BB with such huge odds with crap hands, other times I fold. That said, getting 12:1 to make a cheap call with Ten-deuce I don't mind a fold or call. Just keep in mind you're looking for two pair or better to continue with the hand.
Hand 3 (Jd Qh(: I don't mind completing here. I usually fold though, just because I hate playing marginal hands like these first to act postflop. As played, the check on the flop was very bad for you. Bet that flop with TPGK. You have to push out draws and find out where you stand. As played, you're definitely behind most of the time when someone shoves over, so you have to fold. QT is about the only hand I can think of that might do this that you beat; everything else has you outkicked or is two pair or better.
Hand 4 (Qh Ks): You're right, it's not a raising hand from this position. But since you said that, as played, I would probably give a free card on this flop. There are no flush draws, and the only hands drawing to beat you are sets, which is unlikely. You are heads up, so you want your opponent to hit a little something to stay in the hand. As played, the bet was too much. You have the nuts, you want him to call, try half pot at about 180-200.
Hand 5 ( 4h 8c): Fine.
Hand 6 (Ah Qs): Shove preflop. The small stack is shoving very wide here because the blinds will eat him alive next hand. Big stack's call is donktastic with people to act behind; you want to shove to keep him from seeing a flop for cheap and also to double up with a good preflop hand. Also, what do you do if you miss the flop? You've just committed 1/3 of your stack, it would be a disaster to fold here. As played, the shove is fine. Sucks to lose to K5 though.
Hand 7 (9s 5c): I think this is a fold. BB has you covered, he can gamble if he wants to, and pretty much any hand he calls with has you crushed or 40/60 at best.
Hand 8 (Kc Qs): Good shove. Big stack's limp is retarded, and you only have two to beat to pick up the blinds or double up.
Hand 9 (Ad Qs): Another good shove. Easy cause your stack is so low, you have a good hand, and big stack's donk min raise doesn't mean a thing.
Hand 10 (Qc 6h): Good shove. Beat up on shorty.
Hand 11 (Qc 7d): Same as 10.
Hand 12 (Kd Jc): I think you can just shove here. You're essentially shoving into one player, and KJ kills the random hand.
Hand 13 (Qc Qh): Just go ahead and shove here. If you had a couple more blinds a raise would be fine, but you're in a tough spot it a K or A comes on the flop. As played, the CB is fine, just be ready to get it all in on just about any turn card if he calls.
Hand 14 (Js 3h): Good stab. Two checks at this stage usually means opponent has nothing. This is a spot I sometimes miss.
Hand 15 (Jd 9s): Just fold preflop. No use burning these chips.
Hand 16 (Td 3s): Looks good to me. Just shove over his flop raise though, no point reraising when you know you're not folding and he's not folding. Sucks he hit his kicker to make the boat.
Hand 17 (9s 2s): No, this is a great call. Shortstack has less than 1 BB left, he's shoving with anything. You have to call here with ATC.
Hand 18 (Ks Kd): Yep, bet this was an easy shove.
Hand 19 (2d 2c): I think this is probably a shove. If top 4 paid out I might wait, and see if shortstack goes out next hand, but I don't think you're going to get much better a spot the next few hands.
Hand 20 (As 2c): Good hand. I'd call with 27 offsuit here, your stack is so low it doesn't really matter. Good game. |

Hand 2: Call 40 into a pot of 460, yeah I think you can call this and hope to hit big, although I would have had my “check/fold” box clicked and gotten up for a drink ?
Hand 3: Lead the flop, hopefully donkey folds his terrible gutshot.
Hand 4: (KQo) I fold this from MP. As played you flopped a monster and your bet is too strong. Go with ½ the pot and hope hit something- although against a raise from the BB he could have been completing any crap and unlikely you get much action.
Hand 6: With 1000 in the pot I’d be tempted to just push this PF and try to isolate the all-in. TPTK is gold in this spot and I think you played it fine.
Hand 7: Perfect
Hand 8: With blinds this high I’d say KQo is worth pushing, even with a limper. Your stack is gonna be crippled if the blinds come around again and this is probably as good as you’re gonna get.
Hand 9: Perfect
Hand 10: Perfect
Hand 11: Look at you… kill him from the SB
Hand 13: (QQ) I like the raise here instead of pushing. You don’t mind action from one person and I think you’re more likely to get a stray call with that raise than pushing as the big stack.
Hand 15: (J9o) I’d fold PF and let Button and BB fight it out.
Hand 16: Ouch! I’d just push after his raise, but doesn’t matter, clearly you’re both getting all your chips in on this flop. So many other hands he could hold and make this move with, you can’t walk away from this…
Hand 17: history is werid on this hand… I don’t see any action before you… don't understand the call, this is push or fold easy, I'd opt for fold.
Hand 19: (22) I wouldn’t shove deuces here against two players, this late I don’t think you have much FE.
Hand 20: (A2o) Fine, not much choice with blinds that high
Overall I think you played quite well and understand what you’re doing. You’re asking good questions. |
