Overall I think your play is OK, but I think you need to pay attention to postflop position when acting preflop. Hand 12 was a good (bad?) example of this. Also, see my comment on slowplaying - against calling stations (which most $6.50 players are) when you flop a set you want to play fast to get your money in, since they'll likely call. Also, once blinds hit 25/50 (definitely 50/100) don't raise more than 3x BB preflop.
1. KK - definitely bet the turn, particularly with the K . I wouldn't give a free card here, I'd say you have the best hand here more often than not. If you check behind on the turn you have to just call the river.
2. JTo - I think calling from the BB is OK with all those cold callers, but you're playing for 2 pair or better on the flop. Bit of a tough spot on the flop, I might fold it with two players (particularly the preflop raiser) still to act. That said, I don't think flat calling SB's flop bet is terrible but I prefer a fold here since you didn't hit 2 pair or better.
3. 44 - You played fine obv, but wow that's a lot of limpers! Make sure to make a note on Fivehole that he's a donkey that bluffs with crap - useful if you come across him later.
4. 22 - with blinds at 25/50 I tend to dump the smallest PPs from UTG+1, but if the table is pretty passive I guess limping isn't terrible. On the flop if you never ever slowplayed ever at low buyin SNGs with less than a flopped full house, I doubt you'd lose much EV. Why give a cheap card on the flop, particularly with the flush draw out there? I raise it to 300. On the turn with the third , I guess flat calling is OK but on the river, what's the point of minraising? Either you're well ahead and you should raise more, or you're well behind and you should just call for a cheap showdown.
5. AJo - I guess checking preflop is OK, you don't want to build a big pot when you're OOP postflop.
6. 86s - dump it preflop. Once blinds get this big, chip preservation is more important that 5:1 pot odds IMO.
7. AQo - raising is the right idea, but I'd just shove it preflop. By raising half your stack, if one of them flat calls and you miss the flop you're in a bad spot.
8. AJo - don't raise so much. Make it 400 to go, that is plenty - if you get shoved over by one of the big stacks and have to fold you saved yourself 200 valuable chips. As played, flop is obv fine. Joyleen is a grade-A DONKEY for calling off 60% of his/her stack preflop then folding the flop.
10. A8o - just let it go from the SB. UTG+1 looks like a calling station, he/she won't fold for another 300 chips, leaving you to play a marginal hand from OOP postflop. Make a note on UTG that he/she limp/re-raises big pairs from UTG.
11. 44 - again, 400 not 600 to go. Raising more than 3x BB once blinds hit 50/100 (arguably 25/50) is a leak IMO.
12. K8o - foooooooooooooooooold preflop! You're playing OOP for the rest of the hand, you have a shit hand and you're up against a player who can put you out of the tourney on the bubble. On the flop, bet 500-600 not full pot, if opp shoves over you have to fold and you burned another 300-400 chips.
13. A9o - I guess shoving is OK but it's only marginally +EV at all calling ranges. With antes it becomes an easy shove. |

| thanks for the comments. i agree on hand 4, especially since that player was pretty bad. on hand 11, i raised 3x, so i'm a little confused with your comment, or maybe i'm just senile. hand 12 was a disaster in retrospect, wish i had that one back. i did make notes on people during the tournament, always do, will add your comments to my brain. i've been in a rut...i had some good cards this game, hopefully next time i have them i will be itm. |

Looks like a 4x BB raise to me. Raising TO 400-450 is plenty here. |

When people say a 3xBB raise, they actually mean raise to 3xBB, not raise 3xBB above what it costs to call.
I got confused with that too. |

Yes, 150 is a call or limp, 300 is a min-raise (2xBB), and 450 is 3xBB. you raised 600, or 4xBB. When you pick an amount to raise to, that number is the total you're putting into the pot, counting what you need to call to enter the hand- so a 3xBB raise is calling the BB and then raising 2x the BB. |
