I played a 2/4 limit table at a local casino and when I went to the cashier, I bought a rack or 100 - $1 chips. When I go next, I want to play at a 5/10 table. When I go to the cashier, what do I get? Since the blinds are 2.50/5, do they have 100 - $2.50 chips pre-racked up for you, or do I have to tell them what I want?
When I went the first couple times and played 2/4 and got chips, I didn't think about it until later that I was only buying in with 25BB. I know stack size really doesn't matter in limit, but say for a 6 - 8 hour session, what do you guys that play limit buy in with? I play really Taggy, and have had the discipline even at a B&M to stick with my hand selection/position, so maybe 25BB is plenty.
I'm nervous enough playing and didn't want to feel funny sitting at a table where everyone has 100BB in front of them. |

25BB is a perfectly adequate buy-in in my opinion. keep another 25BB in reserve in case you hit a bad patch. any more "variance" than that and i think you need to rethink your playing strategy.
i wouldn't worry about what denominations of chips to get. just tell the cashier you are playing 5/10 and they will know what to give you for that game. it is going to be different in every house.

| Since most of the casinos I've played at allow 4 raises per round, you need to have 15BB to cap every round, unless it's heads up of course, then they usually allow unlimited raises. So always make sure you buy in with at least 15BB, so for 5/10, you'll want to buy for at least $250. It also doesn't really matter what size the chips are either, the dealer will make it right. |

| I never buy in for less than $100. I hate to go all in in a low limit game because I normally lose money with the best hand. My opinion, for what its worth. |
