I just ordered two decks off of Ebay.

Well a week and a half later they showed up. Funny thing is the guy sent me four Decks!!! I used the "Buy it Now" price and the reciept I have been sent shows that I only ordered 2 decks and the total price was $31.95. I'm not sure what happened there but I'm not going to open the second set for awhile and see if it was a mistake. I know I know I shouldn't keep the second set but I'll wait and see if the guy actually charges me.

So the cards have come in a Kem box. The cards were wrapped in plastic but I'm kind of wondering if the cards are new or not and whether they are actually Kem cards.

First of all I thought when you ordered new cards they come out of the pack all in order. Eg. A 2 3 4 5 6 etc. of one suit and then A 2 3 4 5 etc. of the next suit. And so on. Well these ones were just all random when I pulled them out of the plastic. Weird to me.

Second, I don't know if its just me and I was expecting something different but they don't feel all that much different than new paper cards. My impression was that they were plastic. Does Kem make paper cards too? Is there anything I can do,or is there some way to be sure that I have plastic Kem cards.

I took the Joker and I bent it right over and pinched both edges together like I've seen on pictures on Ebay and yes the card does spring back "almost" flat. But I just don't know. Help anyone.

KEM's are usually sold in 2 deck sets, it could be that you actually ordered and paid for what you recieved. You would need to take a close look at the place you got them from to be sure.

Look at the Ace of Spades, it says KEM on it if they are KEM cards.

ace of spades is the place to look. it should have a spade in the middle with a picture of a woman's face. below that it should say "MADE IN THE U.S.A., copyright 1935 by Kem plastic playing cards INC. and believe me, if you bent a card almost in half and it sprung right back to a flat card, they are not plastic coated. another less obvious aspect of Kems is that as far as i know, they are the only brand that has a flesh tone color on the faces and hands of the J, Q and K. all other brands i have seen are just white. that might be another telltale sign. check this link to see what i mean.

Thanks Poker Dude and Spook.

Yes, after closer investigation these cards do indeed rock! I love the way they shuffle. I guess I just didn't know what to expect. They are amazing cards though.

That link to cards is excellent. That's what I love about this forum. Great support. Thanks again.

Seriously. I love my Kems. Only thing I would change about them, is to have gotten the bridge size regular index. I ordered the super index poker size cards. Just dosen't feel "Official" to me. But they are awesome cards none the less.

I bought a set from gamblinghabit.com and I suspect they are knock-offs for two reasons:

1. All other KEMs, that I have used, are very smooth. My decks have a grainy feel to them.

2. The back design on my decks is unique. I have never seen it on any other website.

They are plastic, very durable, can do the whole bending trick, have the regular KEM markings on the Ace of spades (date code, picture), and shipped in the regular plastic KEM box. But I still dont beleive them. Nonetheless, they are far superior to regular Bicycles, Bee's, etc

I've heard that all new KEM's ahve a grainy feel.. it wears off with use. I wouldn't believe them to be counterfiets based soley on that factor.
