I am SO frusterated at holdem.
Last night I had the worst streak of cards I have ever seen. I sat and played for about 2-3 hours and I lost with.
KK twice
QQ
JJ twice
TT twice
KJs and every other face combination suited and off.
I had about 12 - 15 pocket pairs and I never tripped one all night long. I never won with any pocket pair either.
I had a very Rounders situation pop up. I played A8, 2 8s and an A came down and I lost to Rockets.
It got to the point that the second time I got KK, I limped in, not because I was trying to trap, cause I was scared of the widow.
On the good side, I became psychic. If I had [Ah, Th] then I knew that the flop would not contain any Aces, or 10s, or hearts.
The thing that pissed me off the most is that I kept getting good hole cards, but they would NEVER pan out.
I don't know what to do now. After last night, my poker account has about $7 in it. One side of me says to play it tonight and lose the rest of my money. Just F- the whole thing and I'll redeposit later and get the feeling of starting fresh. The other side of me says that I need to wait a while until after I calm down, then get serious about this $7 and rebuild it. |

Hate to laugh at your situation, but this quote is damn funny.
Hang in there, Humphrind. Perhaps you should post some hand histories in the Hand Histories forum. |

take a couple of days off and calm down.
after a session like yours, i know i would be out of control.
i know that "psychic" feeling as well - e.g. during one of these nasty sessions, i won't call a $2 PFR with AQs because i know i'll miss the flop, and sure enough, i miss it everytime. it's sad to be right.
keep at it, and things will even out. |

That was another issue that made my night so much worse. My keyboard at home bit the dust. I bought one of those wireless keyboards and I couldn't get a connection established, so I couldn't chat, or post anything to FTR. I had to wait until today to post this from work. I am going to get the keyboard problem fixed today and I will accompany my hands with hand histories.
Thanks for the encouragement. I think I decided to have a home game tonight. That way I can focus more on having fun playing the game (I have to remember, it's just a game) rather than online where the only issue is WIN WIN WIN. |

I have solved everything.
I told you about my broken keyboard. Well, I was trying to fix it and got really frusterated and banged it against the floor and now it works. That gave me an idea.
I'm going to take my poker game and bang it really hard against the floor and maybe it will be fixed.
It may not work, but I just keep thinking, "I've had worse ideas" |

2 hours of cards shouldn't do that much damage. I think there is more to the story here... 12-15 pocket pairs? Dang, how many tables were you playing?
Stuff to consider
o Insufficent bankroll
o Playing cards that look like they're already in trouble pre-flop
o Bluffing on tilt, when the entire table knows you're running bad.
o Sticking with an under-pair when someone else shows strength
o Overplaying big hands
o Overpaying to see a flop with small pairs.
o Table selection
A bad run of cards hurts. It's really easy to blame it all on that. It's hard to look at the things you did to make your bad run even worse. |

$7 is definitely insufficient bankroll, you'll just lose that and get further demoralized.
Take a break.
Then reload.
Analyze your play, analyze your patience.
I've taken over a week off cuz I just didn't feel right, tired, stressed, etc.
I've played the last two nights, feeling very ready and excited about playing (first time in a while!). First night I broke even, but never really went on tilt which is fine by me. Last night, made a smooth $100.
Playing frustrated or annoyed will make you play poorly, and there's not much you can do about it other than take a break.
Good luck. |

Take a break at least 5 days to a week or more then reload. I had a similar run last month. I almost put a chair through the front window of my house at midnight. I immediately cashed out about $500.00 and bought an RPG. Played my new game for a few days and didn't even think about poker. When I came back, I was fresh and tight and made a nice profit plus a re-deposit Bonus.
I will never forget the straw that broke the camels back that night because it was the most pissed i've ever been playing poker - I had trip Kings and had opponent all in after flop. He hit runner runner for flush w/ 10,8s.) I figure that it is supposed to be fun and not cause stress or anger. When it is not fun find something else to do. |
