Hey all. I think one of my biggest leaks is wussing out on the turn and river meaning I probably don't 2nd barrell enough and almost never 3rd barrell. I have a strong feeling I can get a fold on the river but I just don't have the stones to risk my tournament life with bottom pair or air.
Example:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (9 handed)
BB (t9070)
UTG (t3770)
Hero (t3570)
MP1 (t5385)
MP2 (t2725)
MP3 (t12365)
CO (t2020)
Button (t1335)
SB (t6315)
Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 5 , 5 .
1 fold, Hero calls t150, 3 folds, CO calls t150, 2 folds, BB checks.
Flop: (t525) 4 , T , Q (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t320, CO folds, BB calls t320.
I have a pair and one player checked, figured I'd try to take the pot now (thoughts?)
Turn: (t1165) 8 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t600, BB calls t600.
I've never yet seen villain check/call with a hand better than MP, mostly hes done this while drawing. I feel I'm likely ahead or maybe against a ten. Is this bet size any good?
River: (t2365) 6 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.
Again, I think villain is weak or draws missed and came so close to pushing but just didnt have the balls.
Final Pot: t2365
Villain shows 8s9s for a pair of 8s and takes the pot.
I'm not sure if I just don't trust my reads or I'm a pansy or what. Please advise. |

| It's a bad flop to bluff, FD, lots of possible straight draws, plus CO will often have a Q or a T. If you're going to try, you need to pot the flop IMO, any of those hands are coming along getting almost 3/1. |

The only time you should be taking this line is if you have a read on your opponent where he will call down but then fold to a river push.
If your read really was what you said it was, then you should have pushed the river.
If your read is really you just wishing that you had pushed the river after you saw that he weakly outdrew you then you need to stop becoming results oriented and focus more on what you should actually be doing. |

| I like a raise preflop better than a call. You will get less folks seeing the flop and give you a better chance for a fold when you c-bet on the flop. |
