What kind of notes should i be taking on the players at a table? and is there any good way of organizing your notes and keeping them fairly simple for each player? An example would be nice as well Smile

Shark/Decent/Fish

Raising standards preflop : Unknown/High/Low
Betting standards generally: Unknown/High/Low
Calling standards generally: Unknown/High/Low

Passive/aggressive

Player tendencies: (How the bet with certain hands, summary of witnessed hands gone to show down, things out of place)

Here's one I logged on to get. Verbatim.

Fish

RSP: High
Betting: High
Calling: Moderate

Passive

Plays scared.
Bets the pot when he's got it, calls a lot when he doesn't.
Always afraid of the board. Guy preraised 3BB and bet the flop on a board J32. The turn was a 2 and he folded to an allin quoting "J2?!"

I'd like to see what other people note. I really only use these notes incase I come across them later and just need to "brush up" on them. Really, I mentally store how to play against most players during the session and then forget about them when they're gone.

How long does it take you to get that detailed notes on a player?

Do you base your

"RSP: High
Betting: High
Calling: Moderate"

on just cards you have seen in showdown or can you make that call based on the frequency of betting or lack therof?

Something I am working on is identifying correlations between types of plays that players make.

Particularly Bad players....

Things like a person who plays any A is more likely to call you down with overcards

Have you guys noticed any other correlations like this?

Both frequency and cards seen at showdown.

I've never gone that indepth. I usually take each player on a case by case basis and use my experience with other similar players to guide my actions.

I was thinking about when you have an incomplete read on a player but have noticed one type of flaw in their play. I wamt to use this to be able to assume more information than I have actually seen at times.

I have seen in depth notes taken on people. And I'm sure those are really helpful. But my notes usually look more like, "called cap with 65o" or "Raised 5Xbb with KTs"
