| I'm holding TA off in the BB heads-up. Villain raises to $35, I call and we go to the flop. Flop comes 5d-5s-7s. I check, villain bets $40, I call. Turn comes As. I check, villain checks. River comes a Kd. I lead for $90, villain raises to $250, I go AI for around $700 more. Thoughts? |

| mmmm only getting called by a hand that beats you, people will rarely raise the river like that without something that they are willing to get AI, i'm not saying they don't, but more often then not that is the case. Plus you are laying yourself horrible pot odds. |

cant think of a hand that calls AND loses here. the only advantage to this play is that he might throw away an ace that splits the pot with you.
this doesnt seem like a likely flush, well-set trap if it was. im sure this is play is a long-term loser. i just call. |

Results for the TA hand: villain called and flipped over 9Qs for the flush. Bad place to make a move huh.
Here's another HU hand I played very aggressively, this one I got paid off for.
I'm holding   on the BB, opponent raises it up to $30 as he has been doing almost every hand. This guy was extremely loose and bad, he literally never folded preflop but was up 2 stacks on me from heinous suckouts. I re-raise to $120, villain calls and we're seeing the flop.
Flop comes    . I bet $100 into a $240 flop, villain min-raises to $200, I call.
Turn comes a  . I check, villain bets $450 into a $640 pot. Note that I am steaming pretty badly. I raise and put myself AI for around $750, I felt my hand was good. Villain thinks for a while before he calls. He flips over   , the river comes a blank, and I'm taking down a pot over 2k with ace-high.
Thoughts? |

| Are either of these calls +EV? I am asking from a learning perspective. I agree that the first call you're only going to get called by a better hand. The second one, I'm guessing it's read dependant? I only play at 100NL, but I've seen this kind of call go south many times. Poss ... were you making what you thought was a good read of just a little on tilt due to the other hand (if htey are related)? |

The two hands are unrelated. The first play was probably -EV, I had been playing aggressively prior to the hand and my AI's not folding much(even a small flush migh have looked me up). The second hand was +EV; even though I was tilting, I felt it was ahead of the villain's range and that he hadn't paired up. I knew he was going to bet the turn once he min-raised me on the flop so once I called the flop min-raise I planned to call him down with ace-high. Although tilt probably contributed to the way I played, given the way he had been playing I knew my ace-high would be good here a majority of the time. |
