This is my first time playing limit, i'm trying to mix in some ring games and I was told to start with limit at first. What my main purpose is right now is to try to put people on hands, on this hand I put the guy on AK, KK or QQ preflop. I narrowed that down to AK or QQ when he slowed down at the turn, should I have been thinking about what he ended up having, or is there really no way to put him on this. Also, was calling the river bet a bad idea? To tell you the truth I didnt even think twice about it and maybe i should have.
PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (10 handed)
Preflop: Hero is BB with A , A .
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 raises, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, Hero 3-bets, UTG+2 caps, MP3 calls, Hero calls.
Flop: (12.40 SB) 3 , 7 , K (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG+2 raises, MP3 folds, Hero 3-bets, UTG+2 calls.
Turn: (9.20 BB) 8 (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG+2 calls.
River: (11.20 BB) 8 (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG+2 raises, Hero 3-bets, UTG+2 calls.
Final Pot: 17.20 BB

Well played.
At these stakes it's hard to put him on a hand. AK/KK look like the most likely canidates up until the river. I would have just called the raise, but it's one of those close calls where you need to go with your gut. |

given the raise, i would put him on a pocket pair like JJ, QQ or he hit the K with a crappy kicker, maybe even KK for the trip, but he would be more aggressive on the turn if he had KK.
he might of had an 8 too, which is why he just called the turn, and raised on the river. |

Bad assumption. Passive players like to skip rounds with their best hands to suck you in, like it's NL, the 100/200 game or something. KK would not surprise me. Although, it's more likely AK. The problem is that KK caps the river and AK just calls. |

| that's true. if he had trip Ks he would slowplay. actually that 8 might have helped him too...since he has a pair of 8's he now has a good enough hand to call...and another 8 on the river justifies his reraising |
