Is this a puzzle assuming that neither you or opponent has a card higher than 9 AND the board has no card higher than 9? If that is the case, I don't think you can because one of you will pair or fill in a straight on the low board.
Eg. You have 92 your opponent has 72
Board is 3458? You either complete the straight or pair one of you.
However if the board pairs you would win in the above example you win with a better kicker but the winning hand woud be a "pair" not "high card."
However, if you play the board and there are cards higher than 9 you can with w/ a 9 high. |

| Actually, one of the guys from my home games was up in AC last week for the US championships. In a side game, he won an $1100 pot with 9 high. I dont have all the precise details, but I do beleive him. |

fnord's question was:
"What's the worst hand you can win a showdown with heads-up?" |

Not sure what Fnord's getting at:
The worst headup hand is 23, but of course you can win with it. Anyone want to rephrase?
9 high win doesn't seem possible
1: 23
2: 24
Board would have to be
5689T
or
5789T
in order not to have a pair or straight
A nine high split could happen
1:23
2:23
B: 45789 |

I guess the worst possible hand to win with would be a 10-high. You would need to hold
and the board would need to be
The opp would need to hold

I thought it was impossible to win with a nine high, but it is possible. I think there is only one case of it, so this is what Steve's friend had (except for the suit).

Player 2:

| Wow i never even thought of that. I guess the worst possible hand in holdem would be 2-3-4-5-7-8-9 (all seven cards) |

QQ?
23 78 Q board
this is of course assuming the question isnt referring to like you have a pair of 2's and flop quad 2's, or you have 23 of diamonds and flop the straight flush. |

i think this is probably the lowest nut hand. you can't have a pair, because any pocket pair beats you. can't have 2 pair because it's possible they have trips. so for the lowest nut hand trip Qs is pretty good haha. |

Wow, I would have never believed that the worst hand in poker is a nine high. I was more surprissed on the worst nut flush, never really thought that out, but I really think that the worst nut hand is a set of queens, then your absolutely sure you have the best hand if th board comes ou
23 78 Q
and you have pocket queens. No hand can beat you..
Now i have a question.. Whats the worst hand in Omaha Hi/Low |

thats a tough one, the hand that ends up being the worst is actually a pretty good hand. Jack high. 2345 with a 789TJ board.
The worst starting hand is of course, quad deuces, save that one for holdem.
