I have noticed a bit of an irritant and I wondered if it's a fixable fault or just a loveable quirk of the FTR boards (or indeed my interfering browser):
When I visit FTR in the morning, I know there are new messages to read by the filled-in spades on the left of the main index topics and of the individual threads in the various boards.
However, if I then post to one of these threads, the next time I visit the thread index they have all turned clear and none of the threads with new messages remain highlighted.
Any idea why this is? It couldn't be *my* fault, could it? |

This thread has had 182 reads but no responses. Can I gently nudge any of the tech guys to let me know if it's a known problem or just something that somehow I'm doing to the site?
Thanks,
Mark |

| Are you clicking on the "View posts since last visit", or are you returning to the forum index each time? If the later, it's doing what it's supposed to do. |

If you're using "View since last visit," as AHiltz suggests, I believe that's the way it's supposed to work. Since, by posting in a thread and returning to the Index, the post you just made is now your "last visit."
I always use "View your posts" first. Until you actually read a new thread via this search, all the marked threads will remain marked. Then, I use "View since last visit."
If you're using "View since last visit," use the BACK button on your browser to get back to the Index with all your marked threads (rather than clicking to the Index). |
